Spoilers for all five endings and their unlock conditions. SILENT HILL f has five endings, but the first playthrough always leads to Coming Home to Roost. The other outcomes branch on later runs: three can be pursued in New Game+, while Ebisugaoka in Silence requires two different full endings first and then a New Game+2 route. The fifth, The Great Space Invasion!, is a joke ending built around UFO-themed collectibles.
How the ending structure works
PlayStation Blog and series producer Motoi Okamoto describe a fixed ending on the first run, followed by branching outcomes on later playthroughs. Okamoto says later routes can change the story’s bosses and developments as well as its ending. PlayStation Blog and Siliconera’s interview with Okamoto discuss that structure.
The detailed item requirements below come from game-guide sources rather than Konami. Ending labels and route requirements are guide-reported; the guides’ use of “true ending” for one route is an interpretation, not an official declaration that it is the sole correct ending.
| Ending | When to pursue it | Key route condition | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coming Home to Roost | First playthrough; also a fallback on later runs | Complete the story; on later runs, consuming a Red Capsule or missing other ending conditions can lead here | Story ending |
| Fox’s Wedding | New Game+ | Avoid Red Capsules; obtain Agura no Hotei-sama; purify the Sacred Sword or do not obtain it | Story ending |
| The Fox Wets Its Tail | New Game+ | Avoid Red Capsules; obtain the Sacred Sword but do not purify it | Story ending |
| Ebisugaoka in Silence | New Game+2, after two different full endings are recorded on a clear save | Avoid Red Capsules; obtain and purify the Sacred Sword; offer the Brooch to the Ancient Jizo Statue on the mountain road | Story ending |
| The Great Space Invasion! | Later run; guide sources place its collectibles across the route | Hear the UFO radio broadcast, inspect three movie posters in order, then find the movie review | Joke ending |
Route details are reported by the Silent Hill Memories ending guide and PowerPyx’s endings guide. The first-playthrough structure is also described by PlayStation Blog and Okamoto’s Siliconera interview.

What happens in each ending—and how to get it
1. Coming Home to Roost
This is the fixed ending for your first completion. On later runs, it also acts as the fallback if you use a Red Capsule or fail the requirements for another outcome. Once you finish the first run, the game provides ending information through the main-menu ending section, according to the ending guide.
2. Fox’s Wedding
The guide’s route requires no Red Capsules and the Agura no Hotei-sama. For the Sacred Sword, it lists either purifying it or not obtaining it at all. The sword route involves a multi-stage Jizo offering puzzle. Because the capsule condition is easy to spoil if one remains in your inventory, the guide advises avoiding capsule pickups and managing any you already have carefully. Follow the game’s ending clues and the guide’s puzzle sequence rather than assuming that simply reaching the final area is enough.

3. The Fox Wets Its Tail
Do not use Red Capsules. Obtain the Sacred Sword, then leave it unpurified: complete the sword puzzle but skip the Crimson Water purification sequence. That unpurified-sword condition distinguishes this route from the purified-sword branch.
4. Ebisugaoka in Silence
First complete two different full endings and keep them recorded on a clear save. Then begin New Game+2, avoid Red Capsules, obtain and purify the Sacred Sword, and offer the Brooch to the Ancient Jizo Statue on the mountain road before completing the story. The guide calls this the “true ending,” but that is the guide’s characterization; the official material cited here confirms branching endings without naming a single one as the definitive moral answer.

5. The Great Space Invasion!
This UFO-themed joke ending depends on a sequence of three kinds of clues: listen to the UFO radio broadcast, inspect all three The Great Space Invasion movie posters in the required order, and then find the movie review. The ending guides agree on these categories of requirements. The radio appears early, while the posters and review come later, so inspect environmental clues as you progress instead of treating the ending as a single late-game pickup.
Plan your runs without replaying more than necessary
Three full playthroughs can be enough to unlock all five endings if you use manual saves and reload for branches. That is different from a save banner showing all five full endings: the guides say that recording every ending as a full completion on one clear save takes five complete runs. The UFO joke ending does not count as one of the two full endings needed before Ebisugaoka in Silence.
- Finish your first run. This records Coming Home to Roost.
- On New Game+, make a manual save before the final route locks. The guides identify entering the Shimizu residence as the lock point. Keep a separate save before this point so you can return to earlier decisions.
- Complete the UFO route while collecting its clues. Listen to the radio, inspect the three posters in order, and find the review. Save separately if you want to preserve a branch point.
- Branch around the Sacred Sword decision. Pursue and finish a purified-sword route for Fox’s Wedding, then reload a pre-purification save to finish with the sword unpurified for The Fox Wets Its Tail. Maintain the no-Red-Capsule condition for both.
- After two different full endings are recorded, start New Game+2. Follow the purified-sword and Brooch offering conditions for Ebisugaoka in Silence.
Manual saves reduce repeated sections, but they do not replace the full-ending record required for the New Game+2 route. Exact lock points and route sequencing are reported by Silent Hill Memories and PowerPyx.

How Red Capsules affect the route
Several alternate endings require the no-Red-Capsule condition. Konami’s Patch 1.11 notes, dated December 9, 2025, say that in New Game+, obtaining the front door keys to Shu’s house without using Red Capsules removes Red Capsule placements and triggers the “don’t take any Red Capsules” condition used by certain endings. Konami lists the change for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, and GOG. Read the Patch 1.11 notes for the platform-specific details.
The same patch note says Konami fixed an issue where the “No One Left Behind” achievement did not unlock on Casual action difficulty. That achievement fix is separate from the ending-route capsule change.
How to interpret the endings
Konami describes SILENT HILL f as a psychological horror story set in 1960s Japan, with Shimizu Hinako confronting social expectations in her hometown of Ebisugaoka. Okamoto has also described historical and cultural oppression of women in that era as part of the story’s backdrop. These themes give the branching routes context, but they do not establish a single objectively “best” or morally correct ending. The endings are designed to reveal further developments across repeated runs; which one feels most satisfying is a matter of interpretation. See Konami’s game page and Okamoto’s interview.
