The Sphinx is found through A Game of Wits, a two-stage side quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. First visit the Mountain Shrine to face five riddles, then track her to the Frontier Shrine for the remaining challenges. Spoilers ahead: the locations and solutions below reveal the quest’s answers. Wrong answers may make the Sphinx leave and can cost you the chance to complete every riddle in that playthrough.
Where to find the Sphinx
Mountain Shrine: the first five riddles
The first encounter is at the Mountain Shrine, away from the main quest route. One documented approach leads through the Ancient Battleground and Worldsend Cavern; another guide describes reaching the shrine through the Misty Marshes. Use your map to navigate toward the Mountain Shrine rather than expecting to encounter it along the main story path.
At this shrine, the Sphinx presents five challenges: Eyes, Madness, Wisdom, Conviction, and Rumination. After completing this stage, she announces that she is moving.
Frontier Shrine: the second stage
Find the Sphinx again at the Frontier Shrine to complete the Reunion challenge and unlock the next stage. The remaining riddles may appear in a different order, so use their names and mechanics below rather than relying on a fixed sequence.

Mountain Shrine riddle solutions
Riddle of Eyes
Enter the passage opened by the Sphinx and take the Sealing Phial from the chest near the entrance. Present it to her. There are misleading dummy chests farther into the tunnels, so do not assume the deepest chest is the answer.
Riddle of Madness
Present the person you love most. Your main pawn is a valid choice, so you do not need to identify or locate a romance NPC for this solution.

Riddle of Wisdom
Hint: The solution is a pawn whose name identifies it as related to the Sphinx. Bring that pawn to the shrine.
Direct answer: Search for a pawn named SphinxMother, SphinxFather, or SphinxParent, then hire it and present it to the Sphinx. Finding a suitable pawn may depend on your network settings and game state; no particular pawn listing is guaranteed.

Riddle of Conviction
Offer an item you are willing to give up. The cited walkthrough reports that the Sphinx returns a duplicate as the reward, but choose an item you are comfortable risking rather than assuming every item is safe to submit.
Riddle of Rumination
Return to the exact place where you found your first Seeker Token. The Finder’s Token you need is at that save-specific location; there is no single set of coordinates that works for every player. Make a note of your first token’s location when you collect it, as this riddle depends on remembering it.

Frontier Shrine riddle solutions
Riddle of Reunion
Finding the Sphinx at the Frontier Shrine completes this challenge and opens the second stage. One walkthrough lists a reward of 100,000 Gold.
Riddle of Contest
The Sphinx places a ring on you that makes a normal fight difficult. Use the arena’s terrain to defeat your opponent instead of relying on ordinary attacks to overcome the ring’s constraint.

Riddle of Differentiation
The Sphinx shows you an NPC and asks you to bring back the matching person. Similar-looking twins or NPCs can make the choice tricky. Compare distinctive appearance details, and consult your NPC logbook if it is available.
Riddle of Futility
This challenge involves a fragile vase and Ser Maurits. Bring Ser Maurits to the vase rather than carrying the vase across the map, which risks breaking it.
Riddle of Recollection
Work out how many riddles you have answered, then place that number of statues. The required count changes with your quest progress. The cited walkthrough identifies an Unmaking Arrow as the reward.
Final encounter and rewards
The guides identify the Eternal Wakestone as the final reward. GINX recommends a character capable of using a bow, while PowerPyx discusses the Unmaking Arrow and Archer vocation in its strategy. Treat an Archer as a reported strategy rather than a confirmed requirement; the walkthrough sources do not establish that this vocation is mandatory.
Before attempting the riddles
- Keep track of where you found your first Seeker Token so you can return for the Finder’s Token.
- Consider keeping a separate save before answering if your platform and save setup permit it. Recovery options vary, and a mistaken answer may prevent full quest completion or the all-riddles trophy in that playthrough.
- For Conviction, submit only an item you are prepared to risk giving up.
- For Wisdom, remember that pawn availability can vary with network settings and game state.
