Solid Snake joined Rainbow Six Siege as a permanent Attack Operator on March 3, 2026, with Operation Silent Hunt. His kit centers on the Soliton Radar Mk. III, a suppressed TACIT .45 pistol and the ability to take secondary gadgets from fallen Operators.
When did Solid Snake come to Rainbow Six Siege?
Ubisoft released Operation Silent Hunt on March 3, 2026, and introduced Snake as a new Attack Operator. Ubisoft’s season roadmap now lists both the operation and Snake as released. At launch, Xbox Wire also described him as a permanent Operator; that is different from the temporary event built around him.
How does Solid Snake’s kit work?
Soliton Radar Mk. III
The Soliton Radar Mk. III provides information about nearby areas and hostiles. Ubisoft says it can display a map of the area and enemy positions. In its launch coverage, Xbox Wire described its indicators as green, yellow and red, with Precision Mode able to reveal an enemy’s location and the direction they are facing. This is information for planning an approach, not a substitute for checking sightlines and coordinating with teammates.
On-Site Procurement
Snake can use On-Site Procurement to acquire secondary gadgets from fallen Operators. The available gadget depends on what is available in the match, so the ability is an opportunity to adapt rather than a guaranteed choice of any gadget.

TACIT .45 and loadout
His TACIT .45 is a semi-automatic pistol with an integrated suppressor. Ubisoft identifies it as a new weapon for Snake. Xbox Wire’s launch overview also covered his loadout options, but current in-game weapon and gadget details are the best guide if you are choosing a build.
Is Solid Snake still playable, or was he only in a limited-time event?
Snake is a permanent Operator, while the Metal Gear Solid-inspired [REDACTED] event was temporary. The event ran from March 25 through April 8, 2026, and has ended.

Ubisoft described [REDACTED] as a 4v4 hack-and-extract mode pairing Snake and Zero. Players moved through two phases—hacking and extraction—on a modified Nighthaven map inspired by Shadow Moses Island. The event offered a crossover setting; it was not the only way to access the Operator.
How could players unlock Snake at launch?
Xbox Wire reported on March 3, 2026, that the Operation Silent Hunt Battle Pass offered an instant Snake unlock at launch. That is historical launch information, not confirmation of a current Battle Pass offer or unlock route. Check the Operator screen and current in-game terms for how to access him now; platform and store availability are separate from an Operator unlock offer.

Ubisoft says Snake’s voice-over was cast and selected specifically for Rainbow Six Siege, and is exclusive to the game. It should not be treated as an interpretation of Snake’s voice across the Metal Gear series.
