No: the sneaker-only framing is out of date. Epic’s August 20, 2026 announcement for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 says Sonic headlines the Battle Pass and features his Power Sneakers as part of the season. Separately, an August 2026 report says Sonic, Shadow and Knuckles are heading into Fortnite, but it does not establish exactly when or how Shadow’s cosmetics can be obtained.
What is confirmed about Sonic and Shadow in Fortnite?
Sonic: included in Chapter 7 Season 4
Epic’s August 20, 2026 Chapter 7 Season 4: Override announcement says Sonic headlines the Battle Pass. It also identifies Tails as a Sidekick and describes Sonic’s Power Sneakers in the season.
Shadow: reported as part of the crossover, with details unconfirmed
On August 15, 2026, Sonic City reported that a crossover comic distributed at Sonic’s Chaos Hunt event showed Sonic, Shadow and Knuckles heading into Fortnite. The report said details about getting cosmetics had yet to be disclosed. It is evidence of the announced crossover context, not confirmation of a specific release date, shop listing or acquisition method for Shadow.
Are Sonic’s Power Sneakers a shoe cosmetic or a gameplay item?
Epic describes Sonic’s Power Sneakers as part of the Chapter 7 Season 4 experience and says players can race through Green Hill Zone with them. That makes them a gameplay feature, distinct from Fortnite’s cosmetic footwear system. The season announcement does not establish that the Power Sneakers are a wearable outfit cosmetic.

Fortnite calls its cosmetic footwear “Kicks.” Epic Games Support says: “Kicks are purely cosmetic and provide no competitive advantage.” Kicks customize an outfit, and Epic notes that they are not available in every mode. The label “sneakers” alone is therefore not enough to tell whether an item changes an outfit or is used during a match.
What was the earlier sneaker-only report about?
A September 10, 2025 report from The Sonic Stadium said dataminers had found branded shoe textures in Fortnite files and connected them to reportedly upcoming real-world Sonic and Shadow shoes involving PUMA and SEGA. At the time, the report said there was no evidence of Sonic character skins. That was a historical report about files and possible physical footwear—not a current account of Fortnite’s Chapter 7 Season 4 content.
