Yes—but “tomorrow” meant October 10, 2024: Sony said participating retailers would begin taking preorders that day for the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle. That was a historical preorder announcement, not confirmation of current stock.
What Sony announced for October 10
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s September 19, 2024 announcement set October 10 as the start of participating-retailer preorders for the PS5 Digital Edition 30th Anniversary bundle. The date referred to a sales channel opening, not an announced new production run or a guaranteed quantity at any retailer. Sony’s announcement does not establish present-day inventory.
How the preorder dates differed
| Channel or milestone | Date and scope |
|---|---|
| PlayStation Direct | Preorders began September 26, 2024, in supported regions, according to Sony’s September 19 announcement. Sony listed the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Austria as regions where direct.playstation.com was available at that time. |
| Participating retailers | Preorders for the PS5 Digital Edition 30th Anniversary bundle began October 10, 2024. |
| Collection release | Sony announced November 21, 2024 as the collection’s release date. |
Which 30th Anniversary product had a stated limit?
Sony declared a worldwide quantity of 12,300 individually numbered units for the PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary bundle. That limit applies to the Pro bundle only; Sony did not state a corresponding production quantity for the PS5 Digital Edition bundle in the cited announcement. The 12,300 figure therefore should not be read as the number of Digital Edition bundles available at retailers. Sony’s collection page distinguishes the products.
What came in the Digital Edition bundle?
Sony described the Digital Edition package as including the limited-edition console and DualSense controller, a console cover for the disc drive, a vertical stand, PlayStation-themed cable ties, and small collector items. The collection also included separate products: the numbered PS5 Pro bundle, standalone DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers, and a PlayStation Portal Remote Player. The anniversary design uses a legacy color scheme inspired by the original PlayStation.

The headline’s “tomorrow” is tied to the 2024 announcement: it meant October 10, 2024, when participating retailers were scheduled to open Digital Edition bundle preorders. The announcement does not show that Sony is selling more units today. Historical reporting about later restocks likewise cannot verify present-day availability; for example, Tom’s Guide’s 2025 restock coverage is historical context, not a live inventory check.
