Is South of Midnight coming to PS5 and Switch 2?
It has already arrived on both platforms. Nintendo lists the Switch 2 version as available, and PlayStation gives March 31, 2026 as the PS5 release date. Nintendo’s game announcement and the official PlayStation listing confirm the date. Compulsion’s port announcement was reported in December 2025, with the studio’s social posts dated December 11, according to Windows Central.

What kind of game is South of Midnight?
South of Midnight is a single-player, third-person action-adventure set in a fictionalized American Deep South. After a hurricane devastates the town of Prospero, protagonist Hazel searches for her mother and uncovers her family’s history. Hazel becomes a Weaver, using magic to fight Haints and mend broken bonds and spiritual damage.
The adventure draws on Southern folklore, with creatures including Two-Toed Tom, Huggin’ Molly, and the Rougarou. Its visual style takes inspiration from stop-motion puppets and animation, while its music draws on Southern musical traditions and includes songs tied to characters and story. How do the PS5 and Switch 2 ports fit the original release?
The 2026 versions followed the original launch on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, and cloud on April 8, 2025. Xbox Wire announced that launch and day-one Game Pass availability; the Premium Edition offered up to five days of early access. The original Premium Edition’s listed digital extras were an artbook, soundtrack, comic, music video, and documentary. The official material reviewed does not establish physical disc or cartridge editions for PS5 or Switch 2, or confirm that those extras are included with the newer versions. What to know about gameplay and length
Combat combines spells with timing and tactical choices. Game Director Jasmin Roy described the abilities this way in an Xbox Wire article: “Push, Pull, and Weave are some of the spells at your disposal that give you a tactical advantage during a fight. Timing is everything.”
Compulsion has said it was aiming for a 10–12-hour playthrough. That is the developer’s estimate, not a measured average or a guaranteed completion time. The studio also described the PC version as Steam Deck Verified; that statement does not establish performance on PS5 or Switch 2.
