After it killed him more than once, he drew it toward a bunker entrance and shot it with an assault rifle. That is one reporter’s account of a short demo session, not a guarantee that every player or version of the game handles the encounter the same way.
What happens in the hands-on gameplay report?
Takahashi’s account begins with an expedition toward a bunker. He entered the Zone carrying a knife and pistol, followed radio directions, and fought a separate beast that pursued him. Inside the bunker, he found dead scientists, a laptop objective, an assault rifle, and ammunition.

Outside, he used a scanner to locate a glowing green artifact in radioactive ground. Picking it up triggered the encounter with the unseen creature. As Takahashi put it, “As I did so, an unseen beast started stalking me.”
How does the unseen creature appear?
At first, Takahashi could hear the creature but not see it. When it came close, its outline became visible; later, it faded into view as a muscular monster described as having once been human. The GamesBeat report does not give the creature a formal in-game name, so it should not be assigned a specific enemy type based on this account alone.

How does Takahashi defeat it?
The creature killed him a couple of times. He eventually used the bunker entrance and its narrow corridor to draw it into range, then shot it with the assault rifle. The report offers this as the solution in his demo session, not as a universal combat strategy or a tested guide for the released game.

GamesBeat published Takahashi’s report on June 9, 2024, and marked it updated June 18, 2025. Its release-date reference was pre-release context. Steam lists the game’s actual release date as November 20, 2024, and identifies GSC Game World as its developer. Steam describes the setting as an open world with anomalies, mutants, and rivals, but that listing does not confirm whether this particular demo encounter changed in the released game or in later updates.
