What did the 2025 Steam Black Friday sale offer?
Reports highlighted discounts on several major releases, but these are examples rather than a complete sale list or a measure of the average discount. PC Gamer reported Space Marine 2 at 60% off and Battlefield 6 at 15% off. TechRadar reported 50% off Silent Hill 2 and Doom: The Dark Ages.
The discounts were uneven: the cited examples span 15% to 60% off. That range shows why the sale could be appealing for one player and underwhelming for another; it does not establish that every game was discounted deeply or that any offer beat its historical low. Regional pricing and availability may also differ.
A Steam Deck offer was included
TechRadar also reported a 20% discount on the Steam Deck 256GB LCD, from a stated US price of $399 to $319.20. That is a historical US offer reported in 2025, not a current price.

Was it actually a good sale?
For someone waiting to buy one of the featured games, a 50% or 60% reduction could make the event worthwhile. A 15% discount may be less compelling if the game is not a priority or if its price has fallen further before. The available reports do not provide a comprehensive comparison with each game’s historical price, so they cannot support a claim that the event offered the best deals—or that it was universally good.
Duration and extras are part of the comparison, too. PC Gamer described the event as lasting about a week and noted that it lacked the Points Shop freebies and trading cards associated with larger seasonal sales. For a practical verdict, check the prices of the games on your own list rather than treating a few prominent discounts as representative of the whole event.

Contemporary coverage described the November 2025 event as Steam’s first Black Friday sale. The careful qualification is “first Black Friday-labelled sale”: Steam had run earlier late-year promotions under other names.
Valve’s November 25, 2009 announcement called an earlier promotion the “Steam Early Holiday” sale, with daily discounts and publisher packs. Its examples included Batman: Arkham Asylum at 50% off, GRID at 75% off, and Osmos for USD/GBP/EUR 2. Those were offers from a different event, not from the 2025 Black Friday sale. Valve’s 2009 announcement also said regional availability could differ.

A community-maintained Steam sales history records Autumn Sales in 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2018. That retrospective provides examples of earlier seasonal events; it is not a complete official archive. Together, these records support the distinction between a first Black Friday label and Steam’s earlier holiday and autumn discounts.

How to judge a Steam sale for your library
- Start with specific games. Compare the current offer for each title you actually want; a headline discount does not describe the entire catalogue.
- Check the price history. The reported 2025 discounts alone do not show whether an individual game reached a new low.
- Factor in extras and timing. A shorter event without the extras of a larger seasonal sale may matter if you value those features.
- Confirm your region and edition. Prices and availability can differ, and the cited hardware figure was specifically a reported US price for the 256GB LCD model.
