Fortis Games launched on March 2, 2022, as a video-game developer and publisher. Its launch announcement described it as a wholly owned Las Vegas Sands subsidiary, fully financed by Sands at that time. The company’s stated focus was games-as-a-service and social experiences; those were ambitions, not evidence of a measured impact. Fortis’s official site currently features Twilight Towers and Bloom & Breakfast.
What Fortis announced at launch
Fortis’s March 2, 2022 launch announcement introduced the company as a global video-game developer and publisher. It said Fortis was wholly owned by Las Vegas Sands and would be fully financed by the casino and resort company. Those statements describe the arrangement announced at launch; they do not establish current financing terms or a present-day funding amount.
The announcement said more than 150 employees were already on board. That is a launch-era figure from 2022, not a current headcount.
Who founded and led the company
The launch team named Steven Chiang as co-founder and president, Shawn Foust as chief operating officer, and Calvin Lau as chief product officer. Fortis’s About page, accessed October 8, 2026, continues to list Chiang, Foust, and Lau in those roles.

What Fortis said it wanted to build
Fortis’s 2022 launch materials set out an ambition to make games-as-a-service with social mechanics: games intended to support meaningful relationships and communities across platforms and genres. The company also announced that it had acquired three development teams: Doppio Games in Portugal, Oktagon Games in Brazil, and Metagame in Romania.
Chiang framed the opportunity broadly in the launch announcement: “Our view is that we are at the beginning of a massive new opportunity for games to make their greatest and most positive impact on global culture, and the human experience.” Patrick Dumont, then Sands president and COO, said Sands was “prepared to invest at scale for the long-term to help Fortis break through as a company of consequence.” These are statements of intent and support made at launch, not independently verified outcomes or current investment terms.
How Fortis described its approach in March 2022
In a March 29, 2022 interview, COO Foust said Fortis was designed to take thoughtful risks and advance service-game design. He said the company would evaluate concepts by the breadth of audience they could entertain, then choose platforms and business models to suit that audience.
Foust also cautioned that the strategy had to be judged by what players actually experienced: “None of this is disruptive until we release a game that causes a response. Until then, we’re just words on a page and games in a pipeline.” That comment, like the strategy itself, belongs to the launch period; it does not establish how players have responded to Fortis’s games since.

As of October 8, 2026, Fortis’s official homepage features two games. Their descriptions below are the company’s own, not hands-on evaluations.
Twilight Towers
Fortis presents Twilight Towers as a merge and tower-defense game involving dragons, kingdom building, and boss battles. Its game page discloses in-game purchases that include random items.

Bloom & Breakfast
Fortis describes Bloom & Breakfast as a merge game about running a bed and breakfast, serving guests, growing a village, and exploring islands. Its game page also discloses in-game purchases that include random items.
The current homepage establishes which titles Fortis features, but not their exact store availability, regional restrictions, or prices.

What the record does—and does not—show
The 2022 announcement establishes Fortis’s ownership and financing description at launch, its named leadership, its launch-era employee figure, and its intended direction. The company’s current official pages establish the leadership it lists and the games it features. Together, those facts show a shift from a broad social-games vision to a visible portfolio that includes two merge-focused titles. They do not by themselves demonstrate whether the original social ambitions succeeded, nor do they establish current staffing or financing.
