The available reporting verifies four encounter concepts, and it does not establish a complete boss roster. So this subjective list ranks those four rather than inventing six more: the Parking Attendant, the Monkey King dance-off, the roller-truck fight, and a separate robotic law-enforcement machine.
The order weighs how differently Mio and Zoe contribute, how encounters change, spectacle, use of level mechanics, and the finale. It is an editorial judgment, not an official or consensus ranking. Split Fiction is Hazelight’s two-player co-op action-adventure, released March 6, 2025; it alternates between science-fiction and fantasy worlds where the characters gain changing abilities. EA’s game page describes its co-op and Friend’s Pass setup; check that live page for current platform availability and terms. Hazelight’s official page confirms the game and release date.
Split Fiction bosses ranked: the four encounters with enough detail to compare
This is a shorter list than the title’s ten slots suggest because the sources available here do not establish ten distinct, named boss fights. A top ten padded with unverified names—or with minor encounters relabeled as major bosses—would be less useful than a clearly qualified ranking. The four entries below are specific concepts documented by reviews or a hands-on preview; descriptions and judgments are attributed accordingly.
1. Parking Attendant (also called the Parking Inspector)
This machine ranks first for the clearest documented combination of co-op roles and multi-stage structure. Beebom describes a multi-phase fight in which Mio’s gravity katana and Zoe’s gravity pull both contribute to defeating it. Nintendo Everything also highlights a robotic overseer that doubles as a parking attendant as a favorite multi-stage encounter. The sources vary between “Parking Attendant” and “Parking Inspector”; this article uses Parking Attendant consistently. They do not establish an exact number of phases.

- This split-screen adventure is tailored for two. Experience co-op gameplay where you’ll have to coordinate your actions and timing as well as work together to overcome challenges.
- Invite a friend to play with you for free on any platform (Crossplay on PS, Xbox & PC) with the Friend’s Pass*. This wild ride comes to you from Hazelight, the co-op thrill-makers that brought you It Takes Two and A Way Out.
- Experience worlds that are entirely different from each other, unexpected new abilities, and a range of gameplay that includes platforming, puzzles, and more. There are surprises waiting for you and your friend in every new level.
- Mio and Zoe don’t get along at first, but soon enough they become each other’s only hopes. This journey will throw unexpected twists at them and if they want to make it through, they’ll need to have each other’s backs.
The appeal is that the partners’ abilities matter in different ways, while the encounter develops beyond a single exchange. That makes it a strong example of the game turning a level’s tools into a cooperative test. Nintendo Everything praised the boss fights as tests of mechanics learned earlier; Beebom’s description supports the multi-phase characterization, not a precise step-by-step strategy.
2. Roller-truck fight
Checkpoint Gaming describes a roller-truck encounter fought on Akira-style motorcycles and culminating in a midair shot. That finale gives it the strongest documented spectacle in this group: the fight moves from a vehicle confrontation to an aerial payoff rather than ending as a conventional stand-off.
The reported description establishes the unusual setup and finish, but not enough detail to prescribe each player’s controls or explain every phase. Its high placement reflects the combination of kinetic premise and memorable climax, not a claim that it is the hardest or longest boss.

3. Monkey King dance-off
Checkpoint Gaming identifies a dance-off with the Monkey King as one of the game’s distinctive boss moments. A dance contest is an unusual change of register for a boss encounter, and that tonal surprise earns it a place among the most memorable documented fights.
The available description does not establish scoring rules, a full sequence of mechanics, or how each player contributes. Its position is therefore based on the concept’s originality rather than an unsupported walkthrough or difficulty ranking.
4. Robotic law-enforcement machine
A February 14, 2025 PlayStation Blog hands-on preview describes an asymmetric fight against a robotic law-enforcement enemy. Mio uses gravity abilities and swordplay to expose its weak point; Zoe dodges and uses a whip-like tool to grab objects and smash them into the machine. The distinct jobs make this the most explicit example here of two players needing to coordinate instead of simply attacking in parallel.

- WHAT IF THE COMPUTER IN WORDLE LIED? - Play a Wordle board game where the Lie-brarian lies about one of the letter clues each round. Can you find the right word in time despite the deception?
- FAST-PLAYING, EASY-TO-TEACH - Part of Allplay's small box board game line. Fiction travels well, is a hit with non-gamers, and contains premium game components. Great for pulling out for a quick game!
- 1 AGAINST MANY - Will you play as the cunning Lie-brarian, or play a cooperative board game with the rest of the table and try to guess? Playing on the team is great for bringing in new players!
- 2 TO 10 PLAYERS - Because Wordle is already so popular, Fiction is a great choice for lovers of family games, adult games, 2 player games, party games, classic board games, and strategy boardgames.

The preview does not identify this machine as the Parking Attendant. They are kept separate in this ranking rather than merged on the basis of a resemblance. The preview also documents a specific encounter, not a universal guide to how every boss works.

Split Fiction is built for two-player cooperation, and its boss fights can ask players to take different actions. The robotic-machine preview illustrates that division particularly clearly: one player exposes a weak point while the other uses the environment to attack. The Parking Attendant reporting points to a different pairing of gravity abilities across multiple stages.
That variety is part of the appeal, but reviewers do not agree that every encounter feels equally smooth. Nintendo Everything praised multi-stage fights as tests of mechanics learned earlier; A.V. Club said some boss fights can be frustrating. Those are reviewers’ judgments, not measured difficulty findings, and they suggest the same design ambition can feel satisfying or demanding depending on the encounter and the players.
Playing with a friend
EA describes Split Fiction as a two-player co-op adventure with split-screen play and a Friend’s Pass. Under the terms stated on EA’s live page, one player must own the full game for the other to join the full co-op game. Platforms and terms can change, so check EA’s official page before arranging a session.
