These are launch-era details: later updates changed both Ranked and progression as the game evolved into SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded.
What Chapter 2 added
1047 Games released update 1.2 on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on July 3, 2025. The official patch notes were published July 4 UTC. Alongside the new Ranked mode and mastery challenges, the update brought the Simulation Anomaly Takedown map and the second mini Battle Pass of Season 1. 1047 Games’ release announcement and 1.2 patch notes describe the launch content.
How Ranked Arena worked at launch
Ranked Arena was not available immediately to a new account. Players first had to earn 100,000 XP in other playlists; the launch notes do not establish how long that took. The initial playlist included three modes:
- Splitball
- Hotzone
- Firecracker
Ranks ran from Bronze to Champion. Seasonal rewards included exclusive weapon charms and badges tied to the highest rank a player reached that season. The patch notes said, “Stay tuned for more info on additional Ranked modes and adjustments in future seasons”—a statement about the plans announced at launch, not a current promise.

How to unlock Carbon, Gold and Proelium mastery camos
The Chapter 2 mastery system was tied to individual weapons and their challenge tiers. First, fully level a weapon to reveal its Mastery Challenges. The first challenge awarded Carbon; the second awarded Gold. Challenges varied by weapon, with examples including earning double-kill medals with an assault rifle, getting precision kills with a burst rifle, or scoring kills while crouching or sliding with a heavy pistol. The official Chapter 2 preview also outlined this progression order.
- Fully level a weapon to reveal its Mastery Challenges.
- Complete the first challenge for the Carbon skin.
- Complete the second challenge for the Gold skin.
- Unlock six Gold weapon skins for a faction to open that faction’s highest challenge tier and earn Proelium skins. The patch notes put it this way: “Unlock 6 Gold weapon skins for a Faction to unlock the highest tier of Mastery Challenges which earn you Proelium skins”.
What was in the Chapter 2 mini Battle Pass?
The second Season 1 mini Battle Pass offered three exclusive character skins, 11 exclusive weapon skins and one portal skin, as well as emotes, sprays, charms, player-card banners and titles. Its listed currency rewards were 500 Splitcoin and 60 Proelium. At launch, the Premium Battle Pass cost 500 Splitcoin, described by the announcement as roughly US$4.99. That price and content describe the 2025 pass, not a current offer.
Battle Pass tokens did not reset between Chapters. During Season 1, players could still spend tokens earned in Chapter 1 on that chapter’s rewards. These details were specific to the original Season 1 pass system.

How Ranked and progression changed later
Chapter 2’s rules should not be treated as a description of the current game. The official site now presents SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded, with a rebuilt progression system. Career Level rises across modes and does not affect matchmaking. The first 75 Rookie Levels unlock core items, followed by 1,000 Challenger Levels. Weapon levels unlock attachments and three earnable camos; three additional colorways for each camo are obtainable through Proelium. Separate weapon mastery challenges award Carbon, Gold and Proelium. See the official progression overview for the current system as described there.

In a later Ranked Refresh, 1047 Games said it had polled the community and changed Arena Ranked from KOTH/DOM/TDM with loadouts to 3v3 Takedown with even starts. The announced fixed weapons were the Cadence Carbine and Blink Pistol. That refresh is distinct from Chapter 2’s launch playlist, XP gate and seasonal reward setup; it should not be read back into the July 2025 launch. Details are in the Ranked Refresh announcement. The game’s official news index also lists later updates, including Season 2 and an endgame mastery camo.

What the launch download figure means
In its July 3, 2025 launch announcement, 1047 Games said Splitgate 2 had reached nearly 5 million downloads and counting. This is the company’s promotional figure at that time, reproduced in a July 4, 2025 article—not an independently audited total, a current player count or a measure of concurrent users.
