No new Chrono Trigger game was announced for the series’ 30th anniversary. Square Enix promised anniversary projects beyond the game world, and the confirmed projects documented so far are music releases and orchestral concerts—not a remake, remaster, or new game.
What Square Enix announced for the anniversary
The original Chrono Trigger reached its 30th anniversary on March 11, 2025. In a statement reproduced in English translation by Nintendo Life, Square Enix said it would launch “various projects that go beyond the world of the game over the next year” to thank players. That wording promised anniversary projects; it did not announce a new game.

Has Square Enix announced a Chrono Trigger remake?
No remake was announced in the company’s May 2025 response to an inquiry from Gamespark. Nintendo Life reported Square Enix’s reply: “A Chrono Trigger remake has not been announced, and at the very least, Horii is not even considering it.” This is the status reported at that time, not a guarantee about future plans. For any later change, look for a newer direct confirmation from Square Enix rather than treating speculation or an ambiguous comment as an announcement.
What anniversary projects are confirmed?
Orchestral concerts
Square Enix announced the CHRONO TRIGGER Orchestra Concert 時を超える旋律 for Tokyo International Forum Hall A on January 17–18, 2026, with conductor Nicholas Buck and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. Those Tokyo performances have passed. Procyon Studio later announced Osaka performances for February 12–13, 2027. The official event information is at Procyon Studio’s concert page; check it for current event details and ticket status.

Soundtrack and arrangement music
Square Enix Music’s Chrono Trigger catalogue lists the original soundtrack on CD, a piano arrangement album dated November 26, 2025, and an orchestral arrangement album dated January 14, 2026. These are music products, not new playable editions. The catalogue listing does not establish whether a particular retailer currently has stock.

Square Enix’s PC edition on Steam was released on February 27, 2018, so it is not a 30th-anniversary release. How to read anniversary news
- “Anniversary projects” is broader than “new game.” Square Enix’s March 2025 statement referred to projects beyond the game world; the confirmed examples here are concerts and music.
- Separate confirmed plans from rumors. The May 2025 corporate response said a remake had not been announced. A future game requires a newer, direct confirmation.
- Check dates and availability independently. Tokyo’s 2026 concert dates are past, while Osaka performances were announced for February 2027. Ticket status and music-product stock can change.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
