It added new mine and volcano layouts, fish frenzies, display options and gameplay changes, alongside fixes and balance adjustments. It is a historical release announcement, not a claim that 1.6.4 is the game’s current version.
When did Stardew Valley 1.6.4 come out on PC?
ConcernedApe published the full 1.6.4 patch notes on April 18, 2024. The Stardew Valley Forums announcement that day likewise said the update was out on PC and described it as a mix of issue fixes, balance changes and new additions. Read the official 1.6.4 patch notes or see the forum announcement.
What did update 1.6.4 add?
New mine and volcano layouts
The patch added 20 alternate layouts for the regular mines. They can appear after the player reaches the bottom of the mines. It also added 20 layouts for the volcano mines; those can appear after the shortcut between the volcano entrance and the caldera is unlocked.
Fish frenzies and more aquarium displays
Fish frenzies became a new feature. The update also made eight additional non-fish items placeable in fish tanks, expanding the options for decorating them.

Fairy styles and a family cutscene
Four fairy styles were added. There is also a special cutscene tied to helping the new neighbors grow their family to the maximum.
What gameplay and item changes were included?
- Raccoon shop: A new trade lets players exchange for mystery boxes and golden mystery boxes.
- Vinegar and trees: Pouring vinegar on a tree prevents moss from growing on it.
- Shaving enchantment: Its tree-specific drops now include fiddlehead fern from fern trees, red mushroom from mushroom trees and hardwood from mahogany trees.
These are notable additions and changes, not the entire changelog. ConcernedApe’s full notes also cover fixes, balance adjustments, translation edits and changes relevant to mod authors.

Was 1.6.4 available on console and mobile?
The April 18 announcement specifically described 1.6.4 as out on PC. A separate statement from ConcernedApe on March 19, 2024, said the broader 1.6 update was then available on PC while console and mobile versions were still in development, with no estimate given at that time. That March status is historical; it should not be read as an update on platform availability today. Read the March 19 platform announcement.

Official Steam announcements record that ConcernedApe fixed some issues in 1.6.4 and then moved on to version 1.6.5. The sequence makes clear that 1.6.4 was one step in the ongoing update history, rather than a current-version label. Browse Stardew Valley’s official Steam announcements.
