GSC Game World released STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl Patch 1.0.1 for PC and Xbox on November 29, 2024, calling it the game’s first fix patch and saying it addressed more than 650 bugs and issues. That figure is GSC’s own count across many categories—not 650 crash fixes or an independently measured improvement in stability.
What did Patch 1.0.1 fix?
GSC’s Patch 1.0.1 notes describe a broad round of fixes for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The headline number covers issues across stability, performance, AI, quests and missions, and minor bugs.

The notes say the patch addressed performance drops and potential out-of-memory crashes in hubs and locations crowded with NPCs during long play sessions. They also list approximately 100 different crash fixes, including potential memory leaks and EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION issues. These are descriptions of fixes included in the patch, not a published crash-reduction rate or a guarantee that every cause of those problems was eliminated.
What does “over 650 fixes” mean?
“Over 650” is GSC’s count of bugs and issues addressed, not a tally of crashes. The developer’s exact wording was: “This is our first fix patch that addressed over 650 different bugs and issues.” The notes do not provide an independent audit or a measured before-and-after stability comparison.

It also changed quests, AI, and optimization
Patch 1.0.1 was not solely a crash update. GSC’s notes also include AI behavior changes, optimization work, quest and mission fixes, and smaller bug corrections. That wider scope is why the 650-plus total should not be read as a count of technical or crash fixes alone.
Later updates continued stability work
Subsequent official patch notes show that technical fixes continued after 1.0.1. Patch 1.0.2 listed additional access-violation fixes and quest blockers. Patch 1.1.4 later addressed shader-compilation crashes, a memory leak at Rostok, performance degradation, and other crashes. These notes establish continued development work; they do not independently measure how well any one fix worked.

Later updates also expanded beyond maintenance. GSC’s Update 1.7 showcase covered A-Life and combat changes, inventory and equipment changes, optimizations, and mod support. Patch 1.7.1, dated December 10, 2025, still listed crash fixes in its official notes.
