S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl did not launch today. The PC and Xbox Series X|S release was November 20, 2024, followed by PS5 and PS5 Pro on November 20, 2025. If you are deciding where to play or which edition to buy, the key differences are platform, edition bonuses, and—on PC—the substantial storage and hardware targets.
What kind of game is S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2?
GSC Game World describes S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl as a blend of first-person shooting, immersive simulation, and horror. Its branching story takes place in a post-apocalyptic science-fiction setting, where survival depends on supplies and navigating environmental hazards, hostile people, mutants, anomalies, and artifacts. The publisher also says the game includes more than 30 firearm models, with weapons that can be upgraded. These are the publisher’s descriptions, not independent review findings. When did it launch, and which platforms can you play on?
| Platform | Availability date | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| PC and Xbox Series X|S | November 20, 2024 | Original release. GSC announced Game Pass availability for launch day; that historical announcement does not establish current subscription availability. GSC Game World, 2024 |
| PS5 and PS5 Pro | November 20, 2025 | GSC lists DualSense haptics and adaptive triggers, gyro aiming, Tempest 3D Audio, and visual improvements for PS5 Pro. GSC Game World, 2025 |
Sega’s Japan-market product page lists PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5, but its PS5 release field still describes the release as upcoming. That field is stale: GSC’s later announcement confirms the November 20, 2025 PS5 launch. Sega’s listed prices are in yen for Japan and should not be treated as current prices in other regions. What are the different editions, and what do they include?
GSC’s edition guide distinguishes Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate editions. The higher tiers add content to the game; pre-order bonuses listed in the guide are historical and should not be taken as offers that remain available.

- Choose between iron-on and hook-and-loop backing.
- We use professional grade iron-on adhesive material for a super strong bond. No sewing required.
- Iron-on instructions and a properly sized piece of Teflon sheet are included.
- Hook-and-loop patches are made with the "hook" side (the scratchy side) on the patch.
| Edition | What the guide says it includes |
|---|---|
| Standard | Base game. |
| Deluxe | Base game plus a side quest, weapons, suits, digital artbook, and soundtrack. |
| Ultimate | Deluxe content, additional gear, and a Season Pass. |
Exact bonuses and packaging can vary by platform and market. For example, Sega’s Japan-market page lists a PS5 packaged version as Standard only. Check the edition description on the storefront for your region and platform before buying. GSC edition guide · Sega Japan product page
Can you play the PC version on your hardware?
GSC’s August 2026 PC guide lists Windows 10/11 and a 160GB SSD across the settings tiers. Its specifications are publisher targets, not independent performance tests; the guide also notes upscaling technologies in its evaluations. Compare your PC with the target you want before buying, rather than treating a listed component as an automatic upgrade recommendation. GSC PC system requirements
