Why do some reports say October 1?
Bandai Namco’s October 1 announcement covered two separate additions: Heihachi joined the roster as paid DLC, while “Unforgotten Echoes” launched as a free story update for people who owned the game. The announcement says the story episode features Heihachi alongside Eddy and Lidia. The patch notes separately specify September 30 for Year 1 Pass early access and October 3 for general access to the playable character.
Keeping those releases distinct avoids treating the story episode’s announcement date as the character’s general release date. The episode also made its featured characters and GENMAJI TEMPLE playable without purchase, according to the patch notes.

Heihachi was paid DLC. Players with the Playable Character Year 1 Pass received the stated early-access window; the pass was included in certain editions or upgrades. Check the entitlements for a particular edition or upgrade before assuming it includes the character.
“Unforgotten Echoes” story episode
The story update was free for owners of TEKKEN 8. It was separate from purchasing the playable-character DLC, so access to the episode should not be mistaken for ownership of Heihachi as a roster character.

Platforms and buying the game
Bandai Namco announced the update for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Its TEKKEN 8 product page lists physical game editions, which may suit someone who does not yet own the base game. A physical base-game copy should not be assumed to include Heihachi: verify the exact edition’s included content and current entitlements before buying.
