In Baldur’s Gate 3, Telekinesis is a level 5 transmutation spell that lets you throw a creature or object up to 18 m (60 ft). It requires concentration and lasts 10 turns. After casting it, you can use the granted action to throw the affected target again once per turn without spending another spell slot. A targeted creature can resist with a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC.
How Telekinesis works in BG3
The spell’s initial cast costs an action and a level 5 spell slot. It requires concentration, has an 18 m (60 ft) range, and lasts 10 turns, according to the BG3 Wiki’s Telekinesis entry. Once cast, Telekinesis enables repeated throws of the affected creature or object once per turn without another spell slot. Casting it with a higher-level slot grants no additional benefit.
For a creature, the spell calls for a Strength saving throw against your spell save DC. If the creature succeeds on its initial save, the BG3 Wiki says the caster does not receive the condition that enables recasting. The wiki describes targeting an item first as a workaround, but this is a community-reported tip rather than an official Larian recommendation.
Objects can also be thrown, and the BG3 spell entry says heavier objects deal more damage. It does not give a universal weight cap in the cited entry, so do not apply the tabletop limit to the game.

How to get Telekinesis
The BG3 Wiki lists these class and item routes:
- Class access: Sorcerer, Wizard, Knowledge Domain, and The Great Old One at class level 9.
- Items: Hr’a’cknir Bracers and Tressym Collar.
- Wizard transcription: A Wizard can learn the spell from a Scroll of Telekinesis by spending a level 5 spell slot.
These acquisition details are listed by the BG3 Wiki; availability may depend on your character’s class choices and access to the relevant item or scroll.
BG3 Telekinesis compared with 2014 tabletop D&D
The game does not use the 2014 tabletop spell’s creature-control checks. The BG3 Wiki’s spell-changes reference describes BG3 creature throws as requiring a failed Strength save. In the 2014 tabletop rules, the spell instead uses a spellcasting-ability check contested by a creature’s Strength check.

The BG3 Wiki records community reports that throwing a burning object at a target can set the caster on fire, and that the once-per-turn restriction may not always be enforced. These are reported issues, not independently verified behavior, and may vary by game version.
