Is Gothic 1 Remake out yet?
Yes. Gothic 1 Remake launched June 5, 2026. THQ Nordic’s launch announcement says the game is available for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and identifies Alkimia Interactive as developer and THQ Nordic as publisher. What is Gothic 1 Remake about?
The game revisits the first Gothic’s setting and premise. You play as the Nameless Hero, a prisoner cast into the Valley of Mines, a penal colony sealed beneath a magical barrier. Three camps compete for power in a dangerous world that does not promise to guide the player at every turn.
THQ Nordic describes the remake’s setting as an organic open world, with unrestricted exploration, inhabitants who follow daily routines and a modernized combat system. What changed from the original Gothic?
Alkimia described the project as a remake that preserves elements of the original while expanding and refining others. In an April 15, 2025 development update, the team outlined a full visual overhaul and systemic and narrative refinements. It also said it reviewed and rewrote plot holes, contradictions and logical inconsistencies. These are the developers’ stated aims for the remake.
A more reactive world
Alkimia said characters follow daily routines, witness the player’s actions and respond to events even when the player is elsewhere. The update also describes expanded areas, hidden paths and dungeons, alongside additional attention to orc culture. Studio Director Reinhard Pollice summarized the balancing act: “Our job was to find out what elements should stay exactly as they are and what elements should be expanded.” Lead Game Designer Javier Untoria called the goal “a living world with a lot of character.” Read the April 2025 development update for the team’s account.

Which platforms and editions are available?
The announced platforms are PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. THQ Nordic lists physical Standard and Collector’s Editions, but current prices, stock and edition contents can vary by store and region. How has the game performed so far?
THQ Nordic reported that Gothic 1 Remake sold 500,000 copies in its first week across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That figure is the publisher’s June 12, 2026 announcement, not an independently audited sales total. The announcement appears in the official game news feed.

What Gothic anniversary merchandise was announced?
For Gothic’s 25th anniversary, THQ Nordic announced a limited-edition Scavenger figurine, an imitation-leather Valley of Mines map and a Gothic Classic Sketchbook. The publisher specified that the figurine was limited to 500 pieces. That announcement does not establish whether any of these items are still available; check the seller before relying on current stock.
