Mario’s Three-peat takes the top spot for turning three familiar tests into a memorable Buddy showdown, while Jr.’s Jauntlet lands last in this editorial ranking. The order reflects clarity, control, pacing, accessibility, and how well each challenge fits its character—not Nintendo scores or an official difficulty list.

What a Showdown Minigame does

In Super Mario Party Jamboree, a Jamboree Buddy appears temporarily on the Mario Party board. Reach one and a Showdown Minigame decides which player recruits that Buddy and receives its special benefits. Another player can reach the Buddy first, so the contest is tied to a changing board opportunity rather than being a separate minigame selection. Nintendo describes the result this way: “Once you reach them and win a Showdown Minigame, they will join you and provide special benefits.” Nintendo’s game overview and official product page describe ten Buddies; the Buddy appearances are temporary.

The ranking below is an editorial judgment, not an official Nintendo ordering or a measured comparison. Mario’s entry is also structurally different: it is a three-part sequence, while the other nine entries are individual challenges. That gauntlet format earns credit for variety, but it is not a like-for-like contest against a single minigame.

Every Showdown Minigame, ranked

Rank Showdown Why it ranks here
1 Mario’s Three-peat Leaf Leap, Bumper Balls, and Shy Guy Says give Mario’s showdown a varied three-part structure. That variety makes it the most distinctive package, though a multi-game gauntlet is less focused than a single challenge.
2 Waluigi’s Pinball Arcade The pinball theme makes the challenge feel closely tied to its Buddy and offers a clear arcade-style identity. It ranks just below the top because a strong theme alone does not make its contest more varied than Mario’s sequence.
3 Yoshi’s Mountain Race A race is an easy premise to grasp, and the mountain setting gives the event a clear sense of movement and destination. It has the straightforward appeal that makes a showdown easy to follow.
4 Wario’s Buzzer Beater The sports framing gives this matchup an immediate competitive hook. It feels fitting for Wario, though its concept is less unusual than the entries above it.
5 Luigi Rescue Operation A rescue premise gives Luigi’s challenge a character-specific identity and a simple stake. It sits in the middle because its theme is appealing without setting it apart as much as the higher-ranked entries.
6 Daisy’s Field Day The field-day framing suggests a lively, accessible contest. It is a good fit for Daisy, but the overall concept feels more familiar than the stronger character showcases.
7 Peach’s Day Off The relaxed title provides a change of tone from the more overtly competitive names. That softer identity is charming, though it gives the showdown a less forceful hook in a contest for a Buddy.
8 DK’s Konga Line The name promises a musical, character-driven idea, but the title alone gives less of an immediate sense of a head-to-head objective than a race or sports contest.
9 Rosalina’s Radical Race The race premise is easy to understand, but it overlaps with Yoshi’s Mountain Race at the broadest level. In this ranking, it places lower because its title suggests less of a distinctive twist.
10 Jr.’s Jauntlet The playful name has personality, but it is the least self-explanatory entry in the lineup. A title that communicates less about the challenge makes it a weaker immediate pitch than the more legible concepts.

The lineup and Mario’s three component minigames are identified in a minigame reference and gameplay compilation; Nintendo’s official pages explain the Buddy system but do not publish this complete text list or a ranking. The minigame reference and a gameplay compilation search support the names and lineup. Placement judgments above are based on the stated editorial criteria, not measured difficulty, win rates, or firsthand testing.

How to approach a Showdown

A Showdown is worth treating as part of the board strategy: the winner recruits the Buddy, but the opportunity can shift if someone else gets there first. Nintendo offers Party Rules and Pro Rules for Mario Party play and describes Pro Rules as reducing luck in favor of skill. Choosing between them changes the broader board-game context, not the editorial ranking of these ten challenges.

If a minigame uses motion controls, Nintendo says Joy-Con controllers are required for motion-control minigames. Nintendo also notes that these minigames are incompatible with online mode and Nintendo Switch Lite. Motion-minigame settings can be changed; check the in-game settings for the available option before starting a session. Nintendo’s overview of modes and rules and the product page provide the relevant mode and controller context.
