Published March 8, 2021, it lists its picks alphabetically rather than ranking all 65 from best to worst. Among Us is marked “Our Recommendation,” and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the “Runner Up.”
What the March 2021 list is—and is not
The article is a snapshot of TechJunkie’s editorial picks at the time of publication. Its entries span genres and styles of play, but the page does not disclose a scoring system or testing method. Alphabetical order should not be mistaken for a ranked top 65.
That date matters for details such as release status, prices, sequels, expansions, availability, and platform support: statements on the page describe what it said in March 2021, not necessarily what is true now. Check each game’s current store listing for up-to-date information.
How to choose among the games
The list is broad enough that the most useful starting point is the kind of play you want, rather than an implied ranking. Consider whether you want a solo story, strategy, action, cooperative play, a party game, or competitive multiplayer. Then narrow it down by local versus online play, group size, difficulty, and whether you want a short session or a longer progression-focused game.
#1 Best Overall
![LEGO Harry Potter Collection Standard - PC Steam [Online Game Code]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61E8FXKxQAL._SL160_.jpg)
- LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 together in one game
- Remastered with enhanced graphics.
That framing also helps explain why readers may look for particular omissions. Comments on the original page ask about Minecraft, Call of Duty: Black Ops III and IIII, and Portal 1 and 2. Those comments reflect individual readers’ reactions; they do not establish a broader consensus about what belongs on a best-games list.
Why Among Us got the top recommendation label
Among Us is the page’s named recommendation, but that label is the editors’ choice—not evidence of a published scoring comparison across all 65 games. For a current, concrete sense of what it offers, Innersloth’s official Steam listing for Among Us describes online and local party play for 4–15 players and lists cross-platform play across PC, console, Android, and iOS. The listing identifies Innersloth as developer and publisher and gives November 16, 2018, as the release date. Store prices and review counts can change.

- DEEP ECONOMIC RAILROAD STRATEGY: Build and expand your railway network in Imperial Steam while managing workers, contracts, factories and income. Every decision affects your long term efficiency, making this a rewarding heavy euro experience built around logistics planning and economic growth.
- COMPETITIVE ROUTE BUILDING TENSION: Plan tracks across the map to connect cities and deliver goods before your rivals. Limited actions and tight resources create meaningful player interaction where timing, positioning and calculated risk determine who dominates the industrial landscape.
- WORKER PLACEMENT WITH ENGINE BUILDING: Allocate workers strategically to secure contracts, generate income and strengthen your operational network. Smart action selection and efficient upgrades create a satisfying engine that rewards optimized planning over luck driven gameplay.
- ADVANCED STRATEGY FOR 2 TO 5 PLAYERS: Designed for experienced gamers, Imperial Steam delivers deep decision making across a full 120 minute session. Each player pursues unique expansion paths, creating high replay value through shifting priorities and competitive board states.
- IMMERSIVE INDUSTRIAL AGE EXPERIENCE: Step into a richly themed railway economy where expansion, production and logistics intersect. Balanced systems and layered mechanics offer a challenging tabletop experience ideal for hobby gamers seeking complex economic competition.
Why Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the runner-up
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is the article’s runner-up designation. Like the recommendation label, this is an editorial choice from the March 2021 article, not a current Steam ranking. Check its present store page for current price, availability, and edition details before buying.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to use the list today
- Use it as a discovery list. Treat the 65 entries as a set of historical recommendations, not a guaranteed current catalogue or a ranked order.
- Match a game to your play style. Look for the genre, player mode, group size, difficulty, and session length that fit you or your group.
- Verify current details. Check the official store listing for price, availability, platform support, and any edition or expansion information that matters to your purchase.
The original article attributes more than 5 million copies in Valheim’s first month to its February 2021 early-access launch. That is a claim reported by TechJunkie; it was not verified here against an original developer or publisher statement, so it should not be treated as independently confirmed.
