The War Within Delves were short, replayable instances built for solo players and small groups, with Brann Bronzebeard as an NPC companion. This guide covers how the expansion’s Delves worked, what Season 3 added, and where their rewards went when Midnight launched on March 2, 2026. The tier system and seasonal details below describe The War Within, not the current Midnight season.

What were Delves in The War Within?

Delves were compact, role-agnostic adventures in Khaz Algar. You could enter alone or with up to four other players, and an NPC companion joined the run. Blizzard’s June 2024 launch-era overview described a mix of combat, puzzles, platforming and boss encounters; it gave an average run length of 10–15 minutes. That duration was Blizzard’s stated average, not an independent measurement. Blizzard’s overview of Delves

Because the activity did not require a fixed party composition, players could choose between a solo run and bringing friends without needing to assemble a conventional group role setup. Delves also provided experience and endgame rewards, including gear and transmog. Progress toward the Great Vault was added beginning with Season 1, so reward details depended on the season.

How did tiers and progression work?

At launch, The War Within had 11 Delve difficulty tiers. Blizzard said that completing a higher tier unlocked the next tier for the Warband. The tiers were therefore a progression ladder: clear an available challenge, then use the unlock to attempt the next one. Blizzard’s overview of Delves

This is the original The War Within system, not guidance for the later expansion. Blizzard’s launch-era description is not evidence of the tier structure or unlock rules in Midnight; check current in-game information for that expansion’s progression.

How did Brann work as a companion?

Brann Bronzebeard accompanied The War Within Delves. Players could set him to a healer or damage-dealer role, develop him through a talent tree, and equip curios found in Delves. His level was shared across the Warband, so progression with Brann was not limited to a single character. These companion details apply to The War Within; Midnight introduced a different Delves companion, Valeera Sanguinar.

What changed in The War Within Season 3?

Season 3, which launched in August 2025, added The Archival Assault, a Delve in the Azure Vaults in the Dragon Isles. It featured challenge gateways and rooms using Reshii Wraps, and its seasonal Nemesis was Nexus-Princess Ky’veza. Season 3 also added a mount and toys to Delver’s Journey rewards. These are historical Season 3 features, not a description of the current Delves season. Blizzard’s Season 3 announcement

What happened to The War Within Delve rewards?

With the transition to Midnight, Blizzard said The War Within Season 3 currencies—Undercoin, Restored Coffer Keys and Untainted Mana-Crystals—would convert to Resonance Crystals. Blizzard also said former Undercoin purchases and Delver’s Journey rewards would be available from Reno Jackson in Dornogal in exchange for Resonance Crystals. This transition information was published ahead of Midnight’s March 2, 2026 launch; it does not establish whether every item remains available in October 2026 or whether later updates changed the offer. Check the vendor and current game notices before planning around a specific item. Blizzard’s pre-Midnight transition notes

How do The War Within Delves compare with Midnight Delves?

Midnight has its own Delves and companion, so the earlier expansion’s specifics should not be carried forward as current rules. Blizzard announced ten new Delves and a seasonal Nemesis Delve for Midnight, with Valeera Sanguinar as companion, alongside new outdoor spaces and quests. Blizzard’s Midnight Delves announcement

Blizzard’s March 24, 2026 Season 1 announcement listed Tier 8+ Delves during the week of March 17 and seasonal achievements and rewards to earn before Season 2. That describes Season 1 timing and does not establish what is available in October 2026. For a player deciding what to pursue now, distinguish the expansion and season first, then verify the current tier, companion, and reward availability in game.
