What does the Definitive Series include?
Skybound Games’ Xbox product description lists all four seasons, 400 Days and The Walking Dead: Michonne, for over 50 hours of gameplay across 23 unique episodes. That is the publisher’s package description, not a measured estimate of how long every player will take. It covers the core Telltale game collection, not every game or adaptation in the wider Walking Dead franchise. Xbox Store
The collection released on September 10, 2019, according to the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store. Official listings reviewed cover PS4 and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation marks the PS4 version as playable on PS5, with a warning that some PS4 features may be absent. The PlayStation listing is digital; MeriStation described the edition it reviewed as a single disc, so physical format should be checked for the specific platform and region.
What do reviews say about the collection?
The strongest case for the Definitive Series is convenience: it gathers the main Clementine-centered narrative and its related side stories in one place. MeriStation praised the breadth of the package and its extras, awarding it 7.8/10 in its 2019 review. A Video Chums review listed by Metacritic was more mixed, noting that the series can eventually lose momentum. Taken together, the reviews support the collection’s value as a complete story package, not the idea that every season is equally compelling.

The PlayStation Store’s US page displayed a player rating of 4.86/5 from 16,675 ratings when accessed October 8, 2026. That is a changing user aggregate for one storefront and region, not a critic score or a cross-platform consensus. PlayStation Store
How does the visual overhaul affect the games?
The collection applies the “Graphic Black” visual style associated with Season 4 to earlier seasons, and adds dynamic lighting to episodes that had not previously received it, according to the official Xbox description. The unified look gives the package a more consistent presentation, but it is a stylistic choice rather than an unqualified upgrade.

In its 2019 review, MeriStation said the filter could darken scenes and obscure detail. It also noted interface, clipping and text issues in the version it reviewed. Those are review-era observations, not confirmation that every platform or current build behaves the same way. If readability and visual detail matter more to you than a consistent art treatment, weigh that criticism against the appeal of the updated look. MeriStation review

MeriStation found the extras worthwhile, but reported that the documentary material in its reviewed version was in English without Spanish subtitles. The collection is most appealing if you are new to the Telltale series or want its four seasons and two additional stories together. If you already own some or all of the games, compare what remains to play against the edition’s current price rather than paying again for a bundle you largely have.
