To finish “Thrown to the Dogs” in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, follow the injured dog from Tennoji Temple to a farm, make your choice about Takako, retrieve the key beneath the house on the right, then examine the box at the gravesite. The quest is now available to all players and rewards you with Tsuki-maru as a Hideout pet.
How to unlock and start “Thrown to the Dogs”
Ubisoft made the quest available to all players in Title Update 1.0.5; it was originally a pre-order bonus. Ubisoft’s Title Update 1.0.5 notes, dated May 26, 2025, say the quest can be started after completing “From Spark to Flame.” Ubisoft Help also says it is available once you have access to the Hideout. Track the quest and travel to Tennoji Temple, outside Osaka.
Search the path northwest of the temple for an injured dog. Pet it to begin the quest.
Follow the dog to the farm
Follow the dog along the route toward the farm. Samurai who recognize the dog will attack on the way; defeat them, then continue following it.

Decide whether to kill or spare Takako
Speak with Takako when you reach the farm. You can kill or spare her; either choice lets the quest continue and does not change the reward. If you fight, Takako and two guards attack. If you spare her, they flee. Choose based on your role-play preference, not quest completion.
Find the key beneath the house
At the farm, look beneath the house on the right. Crawl through the low gap under the house to reach the key.

Examine the gravesite box to finish
Return to the gravesite where you found the dog and examine the box. Read Ichiro’s letter to complete the quest and unlock Tsuki-maru, the One-Eyed Dog, as a pet for your Hideout. Ubisoft confirms the Hideout reward on its Tsuki-maru support page.
