Tigrex is an aggressive Flying Wyvern in the Monster Hunter series, known for its powerful limbs, jaws, and roar. Its habitat, elemental weaknesses, drops, and fight tactics vary by game; the details below identify which information applies specifically to Monster Hunter Now.
What is Tigrex?
Tigrex is a fictional monster in Capcom’s Monster Hunter series. In Monster Hunter Now, Capcom classifies it as a Flying Wyvern and describes it as primitive-looking and highly aggressive, with well-developed limbs, claws, and jaws. Its guide says, “This monster is known for its primitive-looking appearance.”
Capcom’s Monster Hunter Freedom Unite bestiary gives a more specific visual description: golden-orange skin streaked with sapphire stripes, and wings evolved into forelimbs. The bestiary calls Tigrex “a notoriously hostile and lethal monster”; this is fictional in-world description, not a real-world zoological claim.
Where do you find Tigrex?
In the Monster Hunter Now guide, Tigrex is listed in Forest, Desert, and Tundra habitats. These are locations for that game, not a universal habitat list for every Monster Hunter appearance. The official guide was accessed October 8, 2026; gameplay details may change.

What is Tigrex weak to?
In Monster Hunter Now, Tigrex has no listed element and is weak to Thunder and Dragon. Those weaknesses are specific to Monster Hunter Now; they should not be assumed to apply in other games, which may use different encounter and equipment systems.
How do you beat Tigrex in Monster Hunter Now?
Tigrex’s roar can inflict damage. The official Monster Hunter Now guide says its roar is “powerful enough to cause physical damage to those who hear it.” Its charge sequence is also a key opening: avoid trying to trade attacks while it is moving aggressively, then counter once the sequence is over.

- Respond to the roar: Move behind Tigrex or create distance when it roars, rather than staying in front of it.
- Let the charge sequence finish: Evade or reposition through its aggressive charges. Wait until the sequence ends before attacking.
- Target the head and forelegs: Breaking these parts can topple Tigrex, creating an opportunity to deal damage.
- Break the tail if its spin is a problem: A broken tail shortens the reach of its spinning attacks.
These are tactics published for Monster Hunter Now; attack patterns and part-break effects should not be treated as instructions for every Tigrex encounter in the series.
