Today’s NYT Connections is game #907, dated Thursday, December 4, 2025. Try these four hints in order before scrolling to the spoiler-marked solution: Snuggle time; Cheers!; Put it together; Mammal noses.

Progressive hints for Connections #907

Each clue points toward one of the four groups, from a broad theme to a more direct category. Stop after a hint if you want to solve the group yourself.

  1. Snuggle time.
  2. Cheers!
  3. Put it together.
  4. Mammal noses.

Full answer for Thursday, December 4

Spoilers below: The four categories and their words are:

Color Category Words
Yellow CUDDLE DRAW CLOSE, HOLD TIGHT, NUZZLE, SPOON
Green IMBIBE GUZZLE, KNOCK BACK, POUND DOWN, SWILL
Blue THINGS YOU ASSEMBLE IKEA FURNITURE, LEGO SET, MODEL, PUZZLE
Purple SNOUTS BEAK, MUZZLE, PROBOSCIS, ROSTRUM

Why the word overlaps can mislead

PUZZLE, MUZZLE, and NUZZLE share an “uzzle” ending, but they belong to three different groups: assembled things, snouts, and cuddling. That spelling pattern can tempt a player to group words by sound instead of meaning.

The assembled-object group also treats IKEA FURNITURE as one answer entry. Splitting IKEA and FURNITURE into separate ideas can distract from the category; TechRadar’s original word-bank listing shows them separately before its solution presents IKEA FURNITURE together.

How Connections groups work

Connections asks players to divide sixteen terms into four groups of four. The group colors indicate difficulty, with yellow the easiest and purple the hardest, according to the game overview on Wikipedia.

For this puzzle, TechRadar’s writer described the solve as “Hard”; that is one writer’s subjective assessment, not a player-wide difficulty rating or solve statistic.
