| Category | Words |
|---|---|
| Show Off | BLUSTER, CROW, SHOW OFF, STRUT |

| Cereal Mascots | COUNT, ELVES, LEPRECHAUN, ROOSTER |
| Citation Indicators | ASTERISK, DAGGER, NUMBER, PARENS |
Why the word groups can be tricky
Two words depend on less familiar meanings
CROW is a verb meaning to boast or exult, which connects it to BLUSTER, SHOW OFF, and STRUT. PARENS is a shortened form of parentheses. In this group, parentheses are treated as a citation indicator rather than as a curved shape.

Some clues rely on cereal-brand knowledge
The mascot group points to Count Chocula (COUNT), the elves associated with Rice Krispies (ELVES), Lucky Charms’ leprechaun (LEPRECHAUN), and the rooster associated with Corn Flakes (ROOSTER). These references may be less familiar to players who did not grow up with those brands, particularly outside the United States.
Watch for overlapping associations
PARENS can suggest curved shapes, making it a plausible fit for the arc-shaped category, while ROOSTER may tempt you toward the boast group because it is a bird. The reported solution places PARENS with citation indicators and ROOSTER with cereal mascots. FLIGHT PATH can follow a curve, though that connection may not feel as immediate as a banana or rainbow.
How NYT Connections works
Connections gives players 16 words to sort into four groups of four, each sharing a theme. The New York Times says the categories are color-coded by difficulty, with yellow the easiest and purple the trickiest. Because a word can appear to fit more than one theme, the game uses overlaps and decoys. The NYT says its editors curate the words and categories using the Oxford Dictionary. See the NYT Connections help page for official rules and access details.

The daily game releases at midnight in the player’s timezone. The NYT says the archive reaches back to June 12, 2023 and is available to All Access and Games subscribers. Completed archive puzzles cannot be replayed; archive results count toward statistics but not streaks. A NYT account is recommended for syncing progress across platforms.
