Here are four progressively stronger hints, followed by the categories and full answer key. Stop before the spoiler warning if you want to solve it yourself.
First hints for Connections #625
TechRadar’s contemporaneous guide offers these broad clues, one for each group:
- Upbeat
- A lot of ways to say a lot
- Oblong
- Sounds like cash
These point to four different kinds of links: related meanings, equivalent words from different languages, a three-dimensional shape, and sound.
Stronger hints: the four category themes
If the first clues are not enough, the categories are ENTHUSIASM, “MANY” IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES, RECTANGULAR PRISMS, and RHYME WITH U.S. COINS. The coin connection is based on how the words sound, not what they mean.

How the trickier connections work
Watch for the condiment overlap
PICKLE, RELISH, LIME, and ZEST can all bring condiments or flavorings to mind, but they do not form a group in this puzzle. RELISH and ZEST belong with words meaning enthusiasm; PICKLE and LIME go elsewhere.
Think of solid shapes and spoken rhymes
The blue group asks you to recognize objects shaped like rectangular prisms. The purple group is a sound-based connection: each answer rhymes with the name of a U.S. coin.
