NYT Connections answers for April 16, 2025
Spoilers below: the categories and all sixteen tiles are revealed.
| Category | Tiles |
|---|---|
| BURLESQUE WEAR | BOA, CORSET, GARTER, STOCKINGS |
| MESS UP THE SURFACE OF | SCAR, SCRAPE, SCRATCH, SCORE |
| THEY ROAR | CROWD, ENGINE, KATY PERRY, LION |
| LATIN DANCES WITH A VOWEL CHANGED | MAMBA, MERINGUE, SIMBA, TANGY |
Why the final group is wordplay
The four tiles echo the dance names MAMBO, MERENGUE, SAMBA, and TANGO, with a vowel changed in each: MAMBA, MERINGUE, SIMBA, and TANGY. This is the wordplay indicated by the category label, rather than a set of dance names as written.
