A second set of clues, phrased differently, is “Look out!”, “Store things here,” “In the shop,” and “Some meta rhyming.”

#1 Best Overall
Yellow — INUNDATION
AVALANCHE, OUTPOURING, TIDAL WAVE, TORRENT
Each suggests a powerful surge or an overwhelming quantity. The connection is the idea of something arriving or flowing in a great mass.
Green — MAIN FOLDERS IN A COMPUTER
DESKTOP, DOCUMENTS, DOWNLOADS, MUSIC
These are familiar locations or folders in a computer file environment.
Blue — WOODWORKING TOOLS
DRILLS, FILES, ROUTERS, SAWS
Drills bore holes or drive screws; files shape wood; routers cut or shape it; and saws cut wood and other materials. FILES belongs here, even though it can also suggest computer files.
Purple — RHYMES FOR NEW YORK TIMES GAMES
CONFECTIONS, GRANDS, HURDLE, SWELLING SEA
These are sound-alikes for Connections, Strands, Wordle, and Spelling Bee, respectively. The category depends on how the words sound, not their literal meanings.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Why the word bank can mislead
Several entries invite more than one plausible association. FILES may look like a computer-folder answer, and ROUTERS may suggest computer networking. TORRENT can point both to a flood and to file sharing; SWELLING SEA also feels nautical alongside TIDAL WAVE. The cleanest solve is to look for a complete set of four: FILES fits the woodworking tools, leaving DESKTOP, DOCUMENTS, DOWNLOADS, and MUSIC for the computer group.
