If you want the game to reveal letters for a theme word, find three non-theme words. Examples of clue-token words are RIPEN, COWARDS, STIR, PEACH, DRIP, and GIRL; these are not puzzle answers.

Spangram clue
The spangram has eight letters and runs across the board from the left side at row five to the right side at row five.
How Strands hints work
Theme words fill the board, and they do not overlap. The spangram describes the theme and touches two opposite sides. Finding three words that are not part of the theme earns a hint that reveals letters in a theme word. These rules are reproduced in Parade’s guide and described by other puzzle guides.
