Helldivers 2’s September 2, 2025, Into the Unjust update added Hive Worlds: planets with randomly generated cave systems, new subterranean objectives, and four named enemy types. The update is patch 01.004.000, not a current release or a separate paid expansion.
What Hive Worlds add to Helldivers 2
Hive Worlds shift missions from open surface combat into giant cave networks. The reported patch notes describe acid lakes and advanced bug spires on the surface, with destructible cave walls that let squads open routes through the underground terrain. Holes in cave ceilings also allow stratagem call-ins, preserving some access to orbital support below ground. How caves change the mission
- Visibility: The patch notes explicitly recommend a flashlight for the cave environment.
- Calling in support: Roof openings provide locations for stratagem call-ins; the notes do not establish that every cave area has an opening.
- Navigation: Destructible walls allow players to break through and change routes.
- Objectives: Missions include targets and tasks tied to the underground setting, rather than only surface combat.
Hive World mission objectives
The patch notes list three mission directions for the new worlds:
- Descend into caves and destroy Spore Lungs to stop the Gloom’s spread.
- Take control of the GATER mobile oil rig and siphon an oily substance from Hive World surfaces.
- Complete resource-extraction and threat-destruction missions.
These are objectives described in the reported patch notes; the available reporting does not establish how often each mission type appears.

Four new enemies named in the patch notes
The update’s notes list four additions associated with the Gloom and Hive Worlds. These descriptions reflect patch-note language, not independent gameplay testing. GameSpot’s September 2, 2025 coverage also reports the enemy additions.
- Rupture Spewer: Emerges from the ground and emits corrosive acid.
- Rupture Warrior: A Gloom-induced mutation with altered UV protection.
- Rupture Charger: Tunnels underground before attacking.
- Dragonroach: A flying enemy that attacks with air-combustible acid.
Balance changes and fixes beyond Hive Worlds
Patch 01.004.000 also changed projectile damage, armor penetration, and demolition strength for Orbital Smoke and Orbital EMS. The following before-and-after values are those reported in the patch notes; they are balance parameters, not general gameplay performance measurements.

The notes also say EMS stun explosions apply the stun effect on explosion and initially stagger affected enemies without ragdolling a player hit by the blast. Among the listed fixes is a rare crash involving multiple players equipping the MA5C AR aboard the Super Destroyer, alongside other crash, weapon, enemy, mission, and visual fixes.
