It also does not confirm whether roaming Pale Heart chests can grant a first item or how repeat drops work. Here is what is established—and what remains uncertain.
Is Dual Destiny still available?
Yes. Bungie’s current Activities guide lists Dual Destiny among the Exotic Missions available in Destiny 2. That confirms the mission is still on the activity list; it does not, by itself, confirm the current prerequisites or explain the complete class-item acquisition process.
Does completing The Final Shape campaign give you an Exotic class item?
The campaign guide does not identify the Exotic class items as a campaign-completion reward. Bungie says completing every Legendary campaign mission provides additional rewards for each class, but it does not name those rewards as the Exotic class items. See the Final Shape campaign guide for the campaign reward information; do not treat campaign completion as a confirmed class-item unlock route.
Can you get a first class item from random Pale Heart chests without Dual Destiny?
That is not confirmed by the official sources available here. Players have reported class-item drops from Pale Heart chests after unlocking an item, and players have also asked whether random roaming chests can provide one without ever completing Dual Destiny. Those reports are community observations, not an authoritative statement of the current rules. A 2024 report describes post-unlock drops, while a 2026 discussion shows that the requirement is still disputed: 2024 player report and 2026 player discussion.

- For the first time ever, Prismatic empowers you to combine Arc, Solar, Void, Stasis, and Strand into a custom subclass of your design. Light and Darkness have no quarrel within you, Guardian.
- The Final Shape looms—a nightmarish calcification of reality into the Witness's twisted design. Embark on a perilous journey into the heart of the Traveler, rally the Vanguard, and end the War of Light and Darkness.
So if you have never obtained a class item, the evidence here does not establish that roaming chest farming will unlock your first one. If you already have one, chest drops have been reported, but their current eligibility and cadence are not verified. Bungie’s activity guide does not set out either rule.

Dual Destiny is the clearly documented activity that remains available, but the official listing is not a current class-item walkthrough. It confirms availability, not a complete prerequisite list, first-item unlock sequence, repeat-drop conditions, or focusing rules. If you want an official answer to those details, check Bungie’s current activity information and patch notes before committing to a farming route.

- The Annual Pass edition includes The Final Shape story campaign, new destination, three new Supers, new weapons and armor to collect.
- The Final Shape Dungeon Key, catalyst and ornament for the new and instantly unlocked Tessellation Exotic Fusion Rifle, one Secret Stash delivered during each Episode, an Exotic Sparrow, and three Episodes in the year of The Final Shape.
The Final Shape expansion page documents the expansion’s editions and bundled content, but it does not establish an alternate physical product or purchase that grants the in-game class items. The items are acquired in-game; the expansion information is at Bungie’s The Final Shape page.
