Evil Geniuses completed its announced five-player roster for the 2025 VALORANT season by signing Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker and Jacob “icy” Lange on December 20, 2024. They joined returning players Derrek Ha, Nicholas “NaturE” Garrison, and Phat “supamen” Le. The lineup was set to open the season at VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff.

Contemporaneous coverage reported that EG had renewed Derrek, NaturE, and supamen before adding icy and yay to complete the lineup. VLR’s December 20, 2024 report lists all five players and identifies Americas Kickoff as their first event context.
When the roster was expected to compete
EG’s announced lineup was intended for VCT 2025: Americas, with VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff as the season-opening tournament. Riot’s VALORANT Esports site is the official destination for league schedule and standings context; it does not, by itself, establish the historical EG signings.
This is a historical roster, not EG’s current lineup
The December 2024 announcement describes EG’s 2025 roster, not its present-day team. VLR’s transfer record lists yay leaving EG on October 29, 2025, and icy leaving on November 13, 2025. The lineup followed EG’s departures from jawgemo on October 4, 2024, and Apotheon on October 25, 2024, according to the roster-change chronology in VLR’s team listing. The December additions filled the lineup alongside the three retained players.
What the announcement does—and does not—establish
The report reproduces EG’s announcement language for both signings. It attributes “No one saw this coming. El Diablo’s home. Welcome to EG, @yay.” to EG’s December 20 post welcoming yay, and says EG described icy as returning to the main stage after helping the organization win a World Championship behind the scenes in 2023. The report reproduces both posts; the quotations are reported wording rather than independently verified copies of EG’s original posts.

The signing coverage and roster listings establish the five-player lineup and its season context, but do not state the players’ roles, contract terms, or EG’s rationale for each move.
