Who should buy Deluxe?
Choose Deluxe if you are a new player who wants the collection
The legacy event items are the clearest reason to pay extra. If collecting outfits, furniture, and other cosmetics matters to you—and you missed the original events—the advertised legacy collection may be worth the premium. The resource bundles also give you a larger starting and crafting stock, though their practical impact depends on how you play.

Choose Deluxe when the sale makes the price gap small
In the cited US snapshots, the Steam Deluxe bundle was shown at $32.99 against a $39.99 regular base-game price, and the PlayStation Deluxe Edition was $32.99 against a $39.99 regular base-game price. That makes Deluxe especially appealing for a new buyer during those offers, assuming the sale is still available when you check. At regular price, decide whether the cosmetics and head start justify the difference.
Choose the base game if you mainly want the adventure
If your priority is exploring, quests, puzzles, friendships, and customization—and you do not care much about event cosmetics or starting materials—the base game gives you the listed core experience without paying for the bundles. The store descriptions do not identify a separate Deluxe story or region that you would miss.

Existing owners should use the upgrade listing
If you already own the base game, compare the platform’s Deluxe upgrade price with the full bundle price. The PlayStation US snapshot showed a $11.99 sale upgrade versus a $32.99 sale Deluxe Edition; buying the full edition instead of the upgrade would mean paying for the base game again.
