Spoilers for Secret Level episode 4. Episode 4, “Unreal Tournament: Xan,” ends with Xan defeating the forces that staged the arena battles and turning their punishment spectacle into a public call to rebel. The ending connects directly to Epic’s Unreal Tournament franchise, while its broader meaning is an interpretation—not a confirmed explanation from the creators.

What happens at the end of Secret Level episode 4?

Prime Video’s official synopsis sets up the conflict: mining robots rebel against their corporate overlords and are condemned to fight in deadly arena combat. In the episode’s reported final sequence, Xan survives the arena rounds, builds influence among the other robots and completes an upload despite efforts to stop it.

After Xan wins, the Gamemaster orders the soldiers to kill it. The arena barriers prevent them from reaching Xan, and the soldiers are killed. The Gamemaster’s language of punishment is turned back against the corporation; the crowd repeats “Rebel” as Xan stands over the defeated Gamemaster.

That sequence is described in a fan-maintained episode account, rather than an official script or creator commentary. The episode itself is the best reference for exact dialogue and small staging details.

What does Xan’s victory mean?

The arena was designed to make rebellion look futile by turning punishment into entertainment. Xan’s victory reverses that arrangement: the same public spectacle that was meant to warn the robots instead gives them a visible rallying point. The crowd’s repeated “Rebel” suggests that the corporation has lost control of the message as well as the fight.

This is a reading of the ending, not a definitive statement of creator intent. The episode does not, in the evidence available here, establish the full extent of a wider uprising or spell out what happens next to every character.

How does episode 4 connect to Unreal Tournament?

The episode title, “Unreal Tournament: Xan,” names the game franchise and its central figure. Prime Video describes an arena-combat premise that makes the connection legible through the episode’s setting and action. Epic’s official Unreal Tournament franchise page places the series in the company’s game history and says the franchise is no longer in development.

Epic’s current franchise page counts nine titles in the Unreal franchise between 1998 and 2010 and notes that the original Unreal launched in May 1998. Those are franchise-history details, not statistics about the episode. Epic also credits community developers and fans with patches and maintenance that keep servers active for some versions; that does not mean every edition is currently downloadable, playable online or officially supported.

How Blur made the episode

Epic’s Unreal Engine production spotlight says Blur Studio wanted to make an episode around Unreal Tournament. Epic agreed on the condition that the entire episode use an Unreal Engine animation pipeline. Blur built a new pipeline and handled layout, animation, rendering and lighting in the engine.

Those comments describe the production, not the intended meaning of the finale. Director Franck Balson said, “I’ve wanted to push that technology forward in the studio for a long time,” while CG Supervisor Jean-Baptiste Cambier described the transition this way: “The craft comes from your experience. Our best artists in traditional workflows became our best artists in Unreal Engine.”
