You need Trade Deal Level 2 with Karl for the cheese and must resolve the harbor’s green-water mystery before the Toxic Waste offering. The alliance unlocks sewer-grate fast travel. Spoilers for the quest solution follow.
What to give at each Vermin Ties location
Visit these five stops and interact with the character or group at each location to make the offering. The steps and prerequisites below reflect the walkthrough updated September 11, 2026, which includes content from the People or Profit update as of August 2026. How the quest clues point to the offerings
The hints are indirect. If you are stuck before looking up an item, talk to people near the relevant rat locations and pay attention to their comments. Ted’s remark about the rats’ favorite food points to cheese; the tired sheep suggests an Energy Drink; the Nisse’s oatmeal leads to the farm recipe; Barbara’s clue about a “home” points toward a Dollhouse; and Aunt Tellar’s comments hint at the fishy waste. Last Word on Gaming’s clue-focused guide explains these connections, but it warns that it may not account for later updates.
What completing the rat alliance unlocks
Completing the alliance unlocks fast travel through sewer grates. The guide confirms the reward but does not establish that it activates at precisely the same moment as the final offering in every version, so check for the fast-travel option after finishing the quest.
