There is no verified, current ranking of individual Fallout 4 mods for Xbox One in the available official listings. The safest way to find the best fit for your playthrough is to browse Creations in the game, check each listing’s requirements and load-order notes, and compare its purpose and file size before downloading. Bethesda’s current support guidance lists about 15 GB of Creation storage and a 150-active-mod cap for Xbox One; both figures should be checked in current support or in-game information because they can change.
How to choose the right Fallout 4 mods for Xbox One
“Best” depends on what you want to change: combat, settlements, exploration, quests, visuals, or everyday convenience. A mod that suits one playthrough may conflict with another, require additional content, or alter a save in ways you do not want. No authoritative current Xbox One ranking is established by the official sources cited here, so treat the in-game listing—not an old list or an unverified popularity claim—as the place to check whether a particular Creation is available and what it requires.

Check each listing against your playthrough
- Purpose: Confirm what the Creation actually changes and whether that matches your goal.
- Requirements: Look for required DLC or other Creations in the listing.
- Compatibility and load order: Read the author’s instructions for conflicts or placement. Some Creations need a particular load order; there is no single official order for every combination.
- Storage: Compare the listed file size with the space you have available.
- Save impact: Follow any listing-specific guidance about starting a new game or using an existing save. If you are unsure, test changes on a separate save rather than risking your main playthrough.
- Availability and updates: Check the author and any update information shown. If a Creation is removed from Bethesda.net, Bethesda warns that it may no longer be possible to view or interact with it on console.
Do not treat a high rating or download count as proof that a mod is best for your needs. Those numbers do not establish compatibility with your load order or playthrough.
How to find and install Fallout 4 Creations on Xbox One
Older guides may call these items “mods”; Fallout 4’s current menu and Bethesda Support use “Creations.” Bethesda’s current support instructions describe this in-game path:

- Open Fallout 4 and select Creations from the main menu.
- Browse or search for a Creation, then open its listing and read the description, requirements, and load-order instructions.
- Select Download to install it.
- Open the Load Order menu if the listing gives placement instructions, and arrange the Creation accordingly.
Bethesda also says you can add Creations to your Bethesda.net library and install them in the game. Its 2016 Xbox One announcement described in-game browsing, searching, favoriting, feedback, and installation; the current support page calls the menu “Creations.” Do not assume older guides’ menu wording or platform limits remain current. Xbox One storage and active-mod limits
Bethesda Support currently lists approximately 15 GB of Fallout 4 Creation storage on Xbox One. Its same support guidance lists 100 GB for Xbox Series X|S, which is a different console allowance and should not be applied to Xbox One. These support figures have no displayed publication date, so verify them against Bethesda’s current guidance and the game before planning a large set of downloads. When storage is full, Bethesda says you must remove existing Creations to make room. Bethesda’s storage guidance has the platform figures and removal note.

Bethesda’s currently displayed support guidance lists a maximum of 150 active mods on Xbox One, while warning that the cap may be adjusted. This is the number running at once, not the number in your library; you can disable items in the library. Check the current game or support page rather than treating 150 as a permanent limit. Load order and the 2026 console update notice
Bethesda says some Creations need to load in a particular order. Follow the instructions in each listing and use the in-game Load Order menu where necessary. Because individual Creations can interact, do not assume a generic ordering rule will work for every set.

In a notice dated November 21, 2025, Bethesda described a Fallout 4 console storage update scheduled for May 27, 2026. The notice said the update would reset console load orders and that console saves older than November 10, 2025 were expected to be affected. Since that date has passed, treat the notice as historical context—not as confirmation of what your console currently shows. Check the game’s current load order and Bethesda’s latest instructions.
The notice described this archive workflow for preserving a load order: Creations menu → Load Order → Load Order Archive → Save Load Order to Bethesda.net. It also said that making a fresh save for an ongoing playthrough could preserve a load order. Follow the current in-game options and guidance if you need to restore an archived setup. What to do if a modded save will not load
Bethesda’s support troubleshooting steps are suggestions, not guarantees. Try them in order and avoid deleting your actual save file when clearing console storage.
- Power-cycle the console and try loading again.
- Disable all mods and retry the save. Bethesda identifies modded saves with an “[M]” marker.
- Try an earlier or unmodded save if one is available.
- Consider clearing Reserved Space only if the earlier steps do not help. Bethesda’s console guidance warns Xbox players not to delete their actual save file while doing this.
Bethesda also advises against activating too many new mods at once; its support article flags adding more than 10 new mods at a time as a risk.
