Why the words fit

Yellow: CRATER

CAVITY, HOLE, HOLLOW, and PIT can each describe an opening, hollow space, or depression.

Green: ACCESSIBLE

AVAILABLE, HANDY, NEARBY, and READY all suggest something within reach or easy to get or use.

Blue: SUBSTANTIAL, AS A MEAL

FILLING, HEARTY, SOLID, and SQUARE can describe a satisfying or substantial meal.

Purple: BRITISHISMS

These are British slang terms: a butty is a sandwich, a chippy is a fish-and-chip shop, footy refers to soccer, and telly means television. Usage can vary by region.

TechRadar’s February 17, 2025 guide describes color-coded difficulty levels and a limit of four mistakes. That guide also reported that the game was playable free on the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile; access terms may change.
