The June 21, 2024 edition of Connections is puzzle #376—not #375. Here are spoiler-safe hints first, followed by the full answer key.

Connections hints for June 21, 2024

Try the nudges below before revealing the categories and words:

  1. Yellow: Thrill providers.
  2. Green: Yes, you can.
  3. Blue: The hare and the tortoise would be one.
  4. Purple: Start at the end.

Connections #376 answers

Spoilers below: these are the four groups for the June 21 puzzle.

  • Yellow — AMUSEMENT PARK RIDES: FERRIS WHEEL, MERRY-GO-ROUND, ROLLER COASTER, TILT-A-WHIRL.
  • Green — APPROVAL: CLEARANCE, GO-AHEAD, GREEN LIGHT, THUMBS-UP.
  • Blue — TYPES OF COME-FROM-BEHIND STORIES: CINDERELLA, DAVID-AND-GOLIATH, RAGS-TO-RICHES, UNDERDOG.
  • Purple — BEGINNING WITH SYNONYMS FOR REAR END: BUMPER-TO-BUMPER, BUTTERMILK, RUMPELSTILTSKIN, TAILGATE.

Why the purple group fits

Each answer starts with a wordplay clue for a rear end: BUMPER, BUTT, RUMPEL, or TAIL. The connection relies on the beginnings of the full words, not on all four prefixes being equally familiar standalone synonyms.

Why the date is puzzle #376, not #375

The numbering mismatch comes from the title’s puzzle number. TechRadar’s June 21 answer page identifies that date as #376 and the previous day’s puzzle as #375; Connections Answer independently lists June 21 as #376. The date and puzzle number should therefore be read as June 21, 2024, #376.

How Connections works

The New York Times Help Center describes Connections as a game in which players see 16 words and find four groups of four items that share something in common. Each puzzle has one solution. Categories are color-coded from yellow, the easiest, through purple, the trickiest; apparent overlap between possible groupings is part of the challenge. NYT says editors curate the words and categories using the Oxford Dictionary.

Playing today or revisiting past puzzles

Connections is available to play on NYT platforms, and the daily puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone. The NYT Help Center says the full archive, which reaches back to June 12, 2023, is available to All Access and Games subscribers. That makes archive access distinct from playing the current daily puzzle.
