It is an officially licensed action-adventure RPG for PC and mobile, set in Westeros during the latter half of season four of HBO’s series. The date is now a past launch, not an upcoming release.
What is Game of Thrones: Kingsroad?
Netmarble describes Game of Thrones: Kingsroad as an action-adventure RPG officially licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of HBO. Rather than playing as a familiar character from the show, you follow a new protagonist who becomes heir to House Tyre, a small noble house in the North.
The story is set during the latter half of season four. Netmarble describes an open-world journey through Westeros, with locations including King’s Landing, Castle Black, Highgarden, and the Wall. These are the publisher’s descriptions of the game; they are not independent assessments of how its world or gameplay performs.
What platforms is Game of Thrones: Kingsroad on?
Netmarble’s May 21, 2025 launch announcement listed iOS and Android, as well as PC distribution through Steam and the Epic Games Store. The April 29 release announcement also listed a Windows Launcher.

Netmarble’s official game-news page described the official launch as free to play. Do you need to read the books or watch the show first?
The game is set in the HBO series’ world and during the latter half of its fourth season, so familiarity with the show may help with franchise context. Netmarble identifies George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire as the book series on which the HBO series is based. The available announcements do not say that reading the books or watching the show is required to play Kingsroad, and the books are not a game guide.
When Netmarble announced the game in December 2024, CEO Young-sig Kwon described the aim as bringing Westeros to players “in an exciting new way for gamers.”
