The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest is called Minding Your Own Business in Hogwarts Legacy. To start it, find Penny beside the vacant shop in southern Hogsmeade, then speak with Cassandra Mason and buy the shop for 1,500 Gold. Repair the shop, follow the chest into the shifting dungeon, complete its library and atrium routes, defeat Fastidio’s monster and Cassandra, then return to Penny. The reward is your own shop and the Shopkeeper cosmetic set.
How to unlock Minding Your Own Business
Go to the vacant shop near the southern Hogsmeade Floo Flame and speak with Penny, the house-elf sweeping outside. She directs you to Cassandra Mason, whose home is outside the main village area. The shop costs 1,500 Gold; after buying it, return to Penny.

There is conflicting guidance about the story prerequisite. GameSpot’s 2024 guide says to complete Professor Weasley’s first main-quest assignment, while an older Gamer Guides walkthrough says to complete the third Keeper Trial, “Fire and Vice.” Because those milestones do not match, treat Penny’s availability in your game as the practical check rather than assuming the older trial requirement is definitive. If she is not there, progress the main story and check again.
GameSpot reported that a summer 2024 update made the previously PlayStation-exclusive quest available to all players. The official PlayStation promotional page still uses the exclusivity wording, so that page appears stale; the exact current patch number and platform-by-platform status are not established here. Check that your game is updated if the quest is unavailable.

Buy and prepare the shop
- Speak with Cassandra Mason after Penny points you toward her, and pay 1,500 Gold for the shop.
- Return to Penny and enter the shop. Cast Reparo on each of the three damaged areas.
- Follow the quest marker to the chest. Opening it reveals a tunnel and starts the dungeon sequence.
Navigate the shifting shop dungeon
Find the elf-sized hat and the first lantern
Follow the initial passage into a room with mannequins and a small chest. Take the elf-sized hat. When the room shifts, turn around and look for the exit in the rearranged layout. Continue along the passage and interact with the small box in the next changed room.
At the locked door with an empty lantern holder, look over the nearby balcony for the missing lantern. Use Accio to pull it onto the holder. In the foyer beyond, the central door will not open until you have completed both side routes.
Complete the library route
The library route requires two lanterns to open its locked door. In the room with three doors, take the middle door. If a corridor seems to loop, turn back after Fastidio speaks; the path has shifted. After the spider ambush, use Lumos to navigate the dark area, defeat the mannequins and collect the lantern.

Other parts of this route rearrange rooms, including upside-down sections. Use Accio to move lanterns between holders and open the way through. Follow the newly available paths until the library route is complete.
Complete the atrium route
The atrium route also needs two lanterns. Use Accio to transfer them between holders; moving one can change the room and expose a path that was previously blocked.
In the oversized chess room, cast Revelio to reveal cracked tiles. Jump across the safe tiles and avoid stepping on the red-marked broken ones. Defeat the mannequins, collect the lanterns and place them in the holders by the locked door.

Once both side routes are finished, return to the foyer and go through the central door that has opened. Lumos is useful in dark or altered rooms, while ordinary attacks are sufficient against mannequins. Keep moving when a larger group closes in.

Fastidio’s monster fight has three phases. Prioritize avoiding incoming attacks, then use openings to deal damage:

- Orange prompts: Use Stupefy to counter when an orange prompt appears.
- Mannequins and barrels: Keep moving when mannequins join the fight. Stupefy can interrupt barrels thrown at you.
- Upside-down phase: Maintain lock-on as the room flips so you can keep track of the monster. Use Ancient Magic if it is available.
Finish the quest and claim the reward
After the dungeon encounter, speak with Penny. Then find Officer Singer in Hogsmeade Square and ask for support before returning to Cassandra Mason. The cited walkthrough says the encounter ends after you remove two of Cassandra’s health bars. Go back to the shop and speak with Penny to complete the quest.
Completing the quest awards a shop where you can sell items and gear at better rates than elsewhere, along with the Shopkeeper cosmetic set. Penny offers three choices at the end, but the walkthrough does not establish that those appearance choices change the rewards.
