Go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play, then select Enable. Sony allows this setting on one PS5 at a time for an account.
Enable Console Sharing and Offline Play on PS5
- Sign in on the PS5 with the PlayStation account whose purchased games and media you want to share.
- Open Settings > Users and Accounts > Other > Console Sharing and Offline Play.
- Select Enable. The same screen lets you disable the setting.
Sony says the feature is automatically allowed on the first PS5 used to sign in to PlayStation. “Primary PS5” is common shorthand, but this is the PS5-specific process and is not the PS4 primary-console activation flow. See Sony’s PS5 Console Sharing and Offline Play guide.
What enabling the setting lets other users do
Other people using the enabled PS5 can play games and media that the account owner purchased and downloaded, including when the console is offline. They can also access some PlayStation Plus benefits. This does not transfer ownership, guarantee access to every game, or share every subscription benefit.
For content from PlayStation Plus, the membership must be active and the title must remain available. The account enabling sharing must own purchased content. Sony’s support guide describes the feature and its limits.

Move sharing to another PS5
Console Sharing and Offline Play can be enabled on one PS5 at a time for an account. If you can access the previous console, disable the setting there first, then enable it on the new PS5 using the steps above.
If you no longer have access to the old console
Sign in to PlayStation Account Management and use the remote option to deactivate all devices. This is a bulk deactivation, not a way to select just one missing console, and Sony limits it to once every six months. Follow the official PS5 sharing guide for the current remote-deactivation instructions.

Troubleshoot activation or locked games
- Activation is unavailable: Check whether Console Sharing and Offline Play is already enabled on another PS5. Disable it on that console, or use remote deactivation if you cannot access it.
- The setting or content will not load: Check PlayStation service status, install the latest PS5 system software, restart the router after leaving it off for at least five minutes, and restart the console. Sony lists these checks in its troubleshooting guidance.
- A shared game is missing or locked: Confirm that the account signed in to enable sharing purchased the game, that Console Sharing and Offline Play is enabled for that account, and, for a PlayStation Plus title, that the membership is active and the title is still available.
- A padlock or license error appears: Sign in with the account that owns the content and enable Console Sharing and Offline Play. Sony gives this direction for PS5 error CE-109245-1.
Why PS5 instructions differ from “primary PS4”
Sony uses a separate setting and menu path for PS4: Settings > Account Management > Activate as Your Primary PlayStation 4. That path is not for PS5. On PS5, use Console Sharing and Offline Play under Settings > Users and Accounts > Other. See Sony’s primary PS4 activation guide for the PS4-specific process.
