To catch a Pal in Palworld, weaken it without knocking it out, then throw a Pal Sphere. Difficult targets call for a stronger sphere; applying a status effect may help, too. A rear throw is sometimes recommended, but its effect on capture odds is uncertain.
How to catch a Pal
- Bring suitable Pal Spheres. Spheres have different Capture Power, so take a stronger tier for a difficult target. The Pal Sphere reference describes the item and its Capture Power.
- Lower the Pal’s health carefully. Attack until its health is low, but stop before the Pal is defeated. A target’s remaining health is one factor guides identify as relevant to capture success. HowToPlayHub’s capture guide recommends weakening targets before attempting to catch them.
- Apply a status effect if you can. Guides recommend status effects as an additional tactic, but the available sources do not establish a universal boost or a best effect for every Pal.
- Aim and throw a Pal Sphere. Use the game’s throw controls to target the weakened Pal and attempt the capture.
- Adjust after a failed attempt. Before throwing again, consider whether you can safely lower the Pal’s health further or switch to a stronger sphere.
Which Pal Sphere should you use?
Choose by target difficulty: higher-power spheres are the sensible option for tougher or higher-level Pals, while a weak sphere may make a difficult capture harder. Sphere power and the Pal’s remaining health both matter, but the sources do not provide authoritative current resource-cost comparisons, so there is no supported cost-versus-retry calculation here.
Do rear throws increase your capture chance?
A rear approach is commonly suggested by guides as a possible advantage, but the sources disagree about whether it changes actual capture odds. The Capture Power reference flags uncertainty around a rear bonus. Treat it as an optional tactic, not a guaranteed boost or a fixed percentage increase.
Why exact capture percentages are uncertain
No official capture formula is established by the sources cited here. Palpedia’s capture-rate guide says the formula is not officially documented and presents a community reverse-engineered approximation. Sphere power, remaining health, status effects, and the target may all matter, but an estimate or displayed chance should not be treated as a guaranteed outcome.
