To complete Demon’s Test in Throne and Liberty, solve three puzzles in Manawastes: rotate the Horse, Eagle, and Sword statues 3, 2, and 3 times; play the second trial’s crystals in the order 2-5-6-4-3-1-3-2; then touch the final trial’s crystals in the order 2-4-3-3-5-5. For both crystal puzzles, count from left to right. Use each Teleport Magic Circle that appears, cross the aligned platforms after the last test, and examine Junobote’s Records to claim the reward.
How to start Demon’s Test
Demon’s Test is an Exploration Codex quest in the Manawastes, rather than a combat encounter. Find and examine Junobote’s document to activate the quest; the walkthrough identifies it as Junobote’s Examination Paper and says this sends you to the Path of Penance. The available guides do not establish whether the document’s displayed name varies by localization or game version. Game8’s walkthrough and the Throne and Liberty Codex listing describe the quest objectives.
Test 1: Make the shadow with the statues
The first test asks you to form the shadow described by the riddle: “A beast that runs on four legs, dreams of the skies, and power that grows on the head.” Rotate the statues this many times:
- Horse Statue: 3 times
- Eagle Statue: 2 times
- Sword Statue: 3 times
These rotations create the intended shadow. Game8 and Games Lantern’s Codex give the same solution.

2 → 5 → 6 → 4 → 3 → 1 → 3 → 2
Use the Teleport Magic Circle when it appears after completing the test. The crystal order is corroborated by Game8 and Games Lantern’s Codex.
