To use nitro in Nitro Type, press Enter during a race. Nitro Type’s official guidance says you get one nitro per game, so choose a moment when the burst will help. These instructions come from an announcement published October 18, 2022; if the current race interface shows different controls, follow what it displays.
How to activate nitro
- Start a Nitro Type race.
- During the race, press Enter when you want to use your nitro.
Nitro Type’s announcement describes Enter as the control and says there is one nitro per game. It does not describe a way to recharge or earn another nitro during that game. Read the official announcement.
When to use your nitro
Because the stated limit is one per game, save it for a point in the race when a burst is useful to you. The announcement gives no timing strategy or measured statistic about how nitro affects race outcomes, so there is no officially established best moment.
Don’t confuse Nitro Type with Nitro Math
Nitro Math is a separate game with a different boost mechanic. Its announcement says to fill the Boost Meter, then hold Ctrl or left-click while it is charged. Those are Nitro Math controls, not the stated Nitro Type control.

How current are these controls?
The Enter control and one-nitro-per-game limit come from Nitro Type’s October 18, 2022 announcement. The official support FAQ and displayed update history do not establish whether the control has remained unchanged, so check the live race interface if Enter does not activate nitro.
