You can’t convert Steam Points into cash or Steam Wallet funds through Steam’s stated redemption options. Steam Points are redeemed in the Points Shop for community content; Wallet funds are a separate balance used to buy Steam products.
Can Steam Points be converted to cash or Wallet funds?
No official Steam redemption route turns Steam Points into money or Steam Wallet credit. Steam Support says purchases earn points that can be redeemed for community content in the Points Shop. Its points overview also directs users to points history to review points earned, spent, and rewards unlocked.

Steam Points, Wallet funds, and gift cards are different
- Steam Points: A reward balance used for community content in the Points Shop.
- Steam Wallet funds: A balance used to purchase Steam products. Steam says the trading interface cannot transfer money in any form, and Wallet funds cannot be moved or gifted to another account. See Steam’s trading guidance.
- Gift cards and Wallet Codes: These add funds to a Steam Wallet; they do not redeem an existing points balance. See Steam’s digital gift card information.
Can you sell items bought with Points Shop rewards?
Do not treat selling an item as a way to cash out points. Steam warns that offers to buy items or inventories for cash are often the opening of a scam, and says off-market cash offers are outside its recommended trading practices. Its warning is about cash offers for items and inventories; it does not establish the marketability or transferability of every current Points Shop reward. Check the specific reward’s current Steam listing and rules rather than assuming it can be traded or sold. Read Steam’s warning about cash offers.
What to do with your points instead
- Open Steam’s Points Shop and browse the available community content.
- Redeem points for an item you want, following the shop’s current terms.
- To check your balance activity, open your Steam points history; contact Steam Support if you have an account-specific issue.
Steam’s points support page links to a Points FAQ, but its full contents are not established here. For reward-specific restrictions or current options, rely on the information Steam shows for that reward and in its current support pages.
