It was historically listed in Summer Seed Packs, Exotic Summer Seed Packs, and Rainbow Sacks, but it may not be obtainable now: the community-maintained Grow a Garden Wiki currently marks it unobtainable. Check the live game for an active event or pack before spending time or currency on an old route.
Can you get Elephant Ears in Grow a Garden right now?
Current availability is uncertain. The Grow a Garden Wiki’s Elephant Ears page marks the crop as not currently obtainable, while other pages repeat older acquisition information or give inconsistent availability labels. No official live-game announcement confirming a current method was identified in the sources available for this guide.
In the game, check whether Summer Seed Packs, Exotic Summer Seed Packs, Rainbow Sacks, or a relevant event are actually available before pursuing them. Historical drop rates and event instructions below are not confirmation that these items or events are currently offered.
Historical ways to obtain Elephant Ears
The community wiki lists three past pack or sack routes. These are community-reported chances, not developer-confirmed rates; the pages do not give a dated official publication for the odds.
#1 Best Overall
- Giant Elephant Ear Bulbs grow into dramatic Colocasia esculenta plants with enormous green tropical foliage. Large heart shaped to shield shaped leaves rise on tall stems, creating bold summer impact in garden beds, landscaped areas, patios and outdoor living spaces. These impressive foliage plants make excellent focal points without relying on flowers for color and interest.
- Colocasia esculenta thrives in summer warmth and produces increasingly impressive foliage as plants become established. Giant Elephant Ears can reach several feet tall under favorable growing conditions, making them useful for adding height, lush greenery and a tropical appearance around patios, pools, walkways and landscape beds.
- Large container growing makes it easy to add Elephant Ear foliage to patios, porches and other outdoor spaces. Choose a substantial container with adequate drainage and room for vigorous growth. Plants appreciate rich soil and consistent moisture during active growth, especially during hot summer weather when their large leaves require dependable water.
- Plant dormant Elephant Ear bulbs or corms in spring after danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed. Choose a location with sun to partial shade and rich, moisture retentive soil. Position the corm correctly, cover with soil and water thoroughly, then maintain consistent moisture as new shoots emerge and plants begin active growth.
- Cold hardiness varies by climate, and Giant Elephant Ear is commonly grown as a warm season plant in colder regions. Where plants are not winter hardy, gardeners can lift dormant corms after foliage dies back and protect them from freezing temperatures for winter storage. In sufficiently warm climates, established plants may return as perennials.
| Source item | Reported Elephant Ears chance | Availability context |
|---|---|---|
| Summer Seed Pack | 0.5%, as reported by the Grow a Garden Wiki | Historical route; current availability is not established. The wiki marks Elephant Ears unobtainable. |
| Exotic Summer Seed Pack | 0.5%, as reported by the Grow a Garden Wiki | Historical route; current availability is not established. The wiki marks Elephant Ears unobtainable. |
| Rainbow Sack | 7%, as reported by the Grow a Garden Wiki | Historical route; current availability is not established. The wiki marks Elephant Ears unobtainable. |
The separate Summer Seed Pack page also lists Elephant Ears at 0.5%. Treat that as corroboration from the same community-wiki source, not an official rate. A higher reported chance for Rainbow Sack does not make it a current or guaranteed route.
How Summer Seed Packs were earned during Summer Harvest
During the historical Summer Harvest event, players submitted summer crops at the event area in the lobby and contributed to a shared point total. A Beebom guide says packs were awarded after the event and reports a 50% chance of receiving packs when it concluded. That figure describes the chance of receiving packs, not the chance of getting Elephant Ears from one; the same guide reports a 0.5% Elephant Ears chance from a Summer Seed Pack.
Rank #2
- Easy to Grow: Simple planting process with a high germination rate in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil.
- Ideal Temperature: Thrives in warm climates with temperatures between 70-85°F for optimal growth.
- Moisture Requirements: Keep soil consistently moist but avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
- Light Conditions: Prefers indirect sunlight or partial shade to enhance foliage color.
- Perfect for Indoors & Outdoors: Suitable for gardens, patios, and indoor decorative pots.
Those instructions describe a past event, not a confirmed event currently running. If Summer Harvest or a pack is absent from the live game, the old steps cannot make it available.
What to do if the old routes are unavailable
- Look in the live game for the named pack or sack and check its displayed contents or odds, if shown.
- Check whether a relevant event is active and whether its instructions still include Summer Seed Packs.
- If none of these routes is currently offered, wait for an in-game return or an official announcement rather than relying on dated guides or spending currency based on historical odds.
The Elephant Ears Crop Guide contains crop information, but its availability details conflict with the wiki’s current unobtainable label. It is not evidence that a route is active in your game.
