No: the evidence reviewed does not support the claim that Roblox shut down worldwide in 2024. Roblox published updates about platform development and safety during the year, while a separately reported restriction in Türkiye affected access in that country—not globally. A temporary outage or a game that will not load is also not proof of a permanent shutdown.
What happened to the 2024 shutdown rumor?
Roblox’s dated announcements point to a platform that was continuing to operate and develop during 2024, not one announcing a worldwide closure. On September 6, the company outlined platform, creator, infrastructure, and performance plans in its RDC 2024: Roblox’s Next Frontier post. On November 18, it announced parental-control, communication, and content-label changes, some of which it expected to implement by the first quarter of 2025 (Roblox safety updates).
These announcements are evidence of ongoing company work, not an explicit denial of the particular rumor. The available sources do not establish who started the claim or how it spread, so its origin cannot be reliably attributed.
What could make Roblox look as if it had shut down?
“Roblox is shutting down” can describe very different situations. Check the scope and timing before treating a loading problem or post as evidence of a permanent closure.

| What you are seeing | What it means | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| A temporary service incident | A component or service may be having a problem; that is not by itself a permanent shutdown. | Roblox Status |
| A game or experience will not load for you | A connection issue can prevent experiences from loading without indicating that Roblox has closed. | Roblox Support’s connection guidance |
| Access is blocked in one country | A regional restriction affects access in that location, not necessarily worldwide. | Roblox’s statement about Türkiye, below |
| A post claims Roblox will close worldwide | An unsourced post is not the same as a dated company announcement or a documented status incident. | Compare the claim with official announcements and status information. |
What was the Türkiye restriction?
On August 7, 2024, Roblox said it had learned that access to the platform had been blocked in Türkiye and that it was working with local authorities toward a resolution. The company described millions of users and a developer community in the country in its statement on Türkiye. This was a country-specific access restriction, not evidence that Roblox had shut down worldwide.
How to check whether Roblox is down for you
- Check the official status page. Open status.roblox.com to see reported service health and incident history. Its live display changes, so check it when the problem is happening.
- Identify the scope. Note whether the problem affects one experience, your account or device, a region, or many users. A single loading failure does not establish a platform-wide outage.
- Use Roblox Support’s connection guidance. If the status page does not explain the issue and experiences still will not load, follow the steps in General Connection Problems.
- Look for a dated official announcement before believing a closure claim. A permanent worldwide shutdown would be a different claim from a temporary incident or regional block; do not infer one from the other.
What do Roblox’s safety announcements have to do with the rumor?
Roblox’s April 4, 2024 post, Scaling Safety and Civility on Roblox, described ongoing moderation and safety work. In November, the company announced updates including communication limits for children under 13, parental controls, and content labels. Those are platform policy and product changes, not a shutdown announcement.

Roblox Status is the appropriate place to check current service health, but its report is a changing snapshot rather than proof of uninterrupted availability. When checked on October 8, 2026, the page showed all systems operational and listed an October 5, 2026 site issue as resolved. That does not establish continuous availability since 2024 or predict future service.
