You redeem a Fortnite Gift Card on Epic’s website, not in the Nintendo eShop. Sign in to the Epic account linked to the Nintendo account you use for Fortnite, then enter the card’s code at epicgames.com/redeem. The card adds value to your Epic account balance—but Nintendo Switch does not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so that balance will not show as spendable V-Bucks on your Switch.
Before you redeem: check which kind of card you have
Fortnite Gift Cards and V-Bucks cards are different products, and they use different redemption flows. Check the card’s front before entering a code.

Epic says Fortnite Gift Cards are replacing V-Bucks cards, though V-Bucks cards may still be available from some retailers and in some regions. A Fortnite Gift Card is not a Nintendo eShop code.
Redeem a Fortnite Gift Card to your Epic account
- Open the redemption page. Scan the card’s QR code and choose Redeem, or go to epicgames.com/redeem.
- Enter the code. Epic says the 16-digit code is on the back of the card. If you cannot find a code on the card, check the retailer receipt; some retailers print the code there.
- Sign in to the right Epic account. Use the Epic account connected to the Nintendo account you use to play Fortnite. Epic also allows sign-in through a console account. Review the displayed account details, and link accounts if prompted.
- Confirm redemption. Select Redeem now. The card’s value is added to your Epic account balance, not your Nintendo eShop account.
What happens to the balance on Nintendo Switch?
Epic states, “Nintendo Switch devices don’t support the Fortnite Shared Wallet feature.” That means an Epic account balance redeemed elsewhere—and V-Bucks bought through Epic Games Store or another platform—will not appear as a spendable V-Bucks balance on your Switch.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

You can use Epic balance through eligible Epic purchase paths. Epic says the balance can pay for Fortnite V-Bucks, Fortnite Crew, packs, Epic Games Store games and add-ons, and other purchases made using Epic’s payment system. If you use that balance to buy V-Bucks away from Nintendo, spend those V-Bucks on the web Item Shop or another supported platform. Items bought with V-Bucks can appear in the Locker on connected platforms, including Nintendo Switch.
If you want V-Bucks that are spendable on Switch, buy them on your Nintendo device. V-Bucks purchased or redeemed on a Nintendo device are restricted to that device. Epic’s current Shared Wallet information lists PC, PlayStation, Xbox, mobile, and cloud gaming as supported platforms; Nintendo Switch is excluded.

- Gift card must be redeemed at EpicGames.com/redeem. This gift card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly on a console device (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, etc.)
- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms

If your card is a V-Bucks card instead
Use fortnite.com/vbuckscard, not the Fortnite Gift Card balance redemption flow. Follow Epic’s V-Bucks card instructions, select the platform linked to your account when asked, and keep the purchase receipt in case you need help from support. If you redeem or buy the V-Bucks on Nintendo, they remain restricted to Nintendo.

Troubleshoot a missing code or balance
- You cannot find a code: Check the retailer receipt. Some retailers print the redemption code there.
- You redeemed to the wrong account: Check that the Epic account is the one connected to the Nintendo account used to play Fortnite. Epic advises reviewing the account information before redeeming and linking accounts if prompted.
- The balance is missing on Switch: An Epic balance redeemed away from Nintendo is not supposed to appear as spendable Switch V-Bucks because Switch does not support Shared Wallet. The absence of the balance on the console does not by itself mean the redemption failed.
- You have a V-Bucks card: Use the V-Bucks card redemption page and choose the linked platform. Keep the receipt in case support requests it.
