What is Black Ops 6 about?
Activision describes the campaign as a spy-action thriller set in the early 1990s. While the Gulf War dominates the global spotlight, a clandestine force infiltrates the CIA. Black Ops veteran Frank Woods and his team are hunted by the military machine that once created them. This is the publisher’s campaign premise, not an independent assessment of the story. Details are in Activision Support’s campaign overview.
What modes and features does the game include?
Activision lists Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies as the game’s modes. Its launch communications also highlight Omnimovement. These are publisher descriptions; they do not by themselves indicate how well a mode or feature plays. The launch context is covered in the Call of Duty launch blog.

What should you check before buying a physical copy?
Activision Support documents physical editions for PlayStation and Xbox, but disc compatibility depends on the console and edition. Check the precise edition and retailer listing before buying:
- PS5 physical edition: for PS5 only.
- PS4 cross-gen bundle: includes a code for a PS5 digital version, but the disc is required to play that PS5 version.
- Digital-only consoles: physical editions do not work on Xbox Series S or a digital-only PS5.
Activision also states that texture streaming requires a continuous internet connection to play any mode, including Campaign. Its editions support article says console Campaign play does not require a premium subscription such as Game Pass Core or PlayStation Plus. Online play and subscription requirements can vary by platform and mode, so consult the current platform listing. See Activision Support’s editions information.
